Works well right out of the box. I installed it inline with the thermostat control wire and it turned off the A/C when tested.

Great safety device.
I was a little hesitant when I bought this, but it works exactly like I expected it to. There is a normally open and a normally closed circuit. The float closes the normally open circuit when raised. For some reason (probably an HVAC reason), the long wires are common and normally open. The normally closed wire is considerably shorter, being only about 15 centimeters long. Fortunately, that didn't affect me, and even if I had needed it, I could have put an extension on the wire. I like the little test button on it where you can pull up the float and see that you have everything hooked up right.
