Festool 496962 80mm X 130mm Hand Sanding Block

I recently purchased the Festool 496962, and it has significantly enhanced my woodworking projects. The precision and quality of this tool are outstanding, making it an essential addition to my workshop. Seems expensive at first, however once in use and with a vacuum hookup, very little dust escapes. The sander will probably last for years

Great for hand sanding

Great for small jobs, although I used it for a ceiling and parts of a wall. Note this is not a powered hand sanding block. Wish I had the ceiling sanders but anyhow the job is now done and looks great. Attaching to HEPA vacuum eliminates dust and removes particles that can clog the sand paper. It uses the same pads as the Festool LS 130 sander. The fine adjustment for the vacuum level (suction) on the CT MINI Vacuum is great as you can dial in the proper suction to allow for optimum dust collection and sliding friction for different materials. Great thing to have in the toolbox, or in your systainer. There are other options out there but you know the hose matches up for the Festool line and it fits into your beautiful Festool fanboy (or girl) line-up.

Looking at this product to purchase my finger didn’t want to press the add to cart button because of the price. Ouch! I should learn to read the description better. I thought because it’s a Festool it would be metal but it’s plastic. After being pissed off about that I used it anyway. As it turns out plastic isn’t too bad. Its lightweight is probably less fatiguing. I originally bought this because it would be handy and I have a lot of these sandpaper from a Festool. I hate cutting sandpaper for my hand sander. Such a waste of time. I haven’t used my vacuum with this because I don’t do a lot of big surface sanding with it. So that the only reason I put one star. Don’t want to mislead anyone.

This sanding block is well made but that doesn’t make up for the poor design. I have a good vac and am unable to move the sanding block across the surface even with the suction valve open, which, by the way, makes a very loud noise when open. May not work for you unless your vac has variable speed or a good suction reduction slider. I like it for use without attaching the vac but then what’s the point.

Perfect sanding block and paper for drywall sanding applications. Dust was kept to an absolute minimum since it's drawn through the block into your vacuum source. Wish I found this years ago. Well worth the money!

We have multiple festool product for 4 of our crews. This is exactly what we need for providing our dustless environment while having an option for a “hand sand” control on certain drywall patches. Definitely exceeds our expectation and plan on buy 3 more for the other vans.
