Awesome, so easy to set up
UPDATE: I'm fed up. It's almost like they are reverse engineering the app to make it so bad that it will drive users to insanity. I HATE these bulbs and literally wouldn't wish my enemy to have to pair or re-pair these things or just try to get the app to actually function. In fact right now as I beat upon this keyboard I'm dreaming of taking each bulb out one by one with a shotgun. I'm just going to sum it up this way: If you are looking for an experience that involves every range of emotion (including near insanity) go ahead and knock yourself out. Otherwise stick to ANY other brand of smart bulbs because Ilumi will certainly invoke the rage deep inside of you that will give you total contempt for the bulbs every time you walk into the room. Love these bulbs. So easy to set up. Screw in and download the app. No hub needed, the app located the bulbs immediately. I would give this 5 stars if the app was better but until they update the app to be a little more user friendly and intuitive I have to give it 4 stars. I did read they are going to be doing a major overhaul to the app in April 2016 which is very promising. I added 6 of these into my kitchen, and set several different scenes depending on the time of day which is nice. I'm not one to add reds or blues in the kitchen but its easily done, in fact someone could go pretty crazy if they wanted to. You can even set it up to change with music but I haven't had a chance to do that yet. Maybe when I have my friends over and we decide to get drunk one night...I really like all the different white hues since I get a bit neurotic constantly trying to find the perfect white bulb for the kitchen. With these, I can easily switch between bright, soft, daylight, dim light...100's of variations of white it's overwhelming. I've set up a few defaults and favorites. The only downside that I'm trying to figure out, or at least hoping they change, is the fact that if you have lights in a kitchen as I do, and you accidentally messed with the hue of one, getting it to match the others is next to impossible. Again, it could be user error but I have yet to figure out a simple way on the app to reset each of the individual lights back to the same color. Overall from the research I've done with the Philips and the others, Ilumi hands down is the easiest to set up and seems to have the broadest color range. I'm very pleased with the results and can't wait for the app overhaul.

Great Bulb.
I originally bought a set of six from Best Buy for the living room but recently had to buy a repalcemt, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Over all I’m happy with the bulbs and never had issues using the app. What’s great about these bulbs IMO is that you’re not required to buy a hub in order to use the bulbs. Additionally, the reviews regarding glitchiness could possibly be from not having an LED-compatibale dimmer switch. Before replacing the switch I was experiencing the glitchiness of the bulbs but now, works like a charm. Lastly, I also like that it works via Bluetooth and not a WiFi signal.

I want to like them more than I do
I love the concept with of lights. LOVE. I mean the custom sunrise is just enough to make my materialistic heart swoon. You can literally set the lights to make it look like the sun is rising IN FIJI. FIJI!! It's just that they often disconnect from each other, they're very difficult to link up to alexa, and they just aren't super reliable. I have several of these in a group, and when I set a sun rise or change the light setting, theres always one errant, special light that is reminiscent of my childhood in the outfield playing baseball. (I've never been athletic) The Lohas brand of MUCH CHEAPER smart bulbs does NOT have all the fancy features like circadian lighting and colorado sunrises, but it connects seamlessly to alexa, and you can literally tell that chick to make bedroom "chartuese" (which i just realized I don't even know how to spell) and the whole room turns pukey green instantly. ("so THATS chartruese! who knew?!") and there are no chubby little outfielder bulbs who aren't paying attention. Cause no matter how body positive we are, we all want slender, athletic smart bulbs.

Very Impressed
I love this Bulb! There is so much in one bulb. Even when im not customizing lights to dance to a song, or changing the color depending on my mood, I love the natural light it gives the room. Changing the brightness is also a HUGE convenience most colored bulbs you do not get to choose the brightness. It works great and responded fairly quickly to the app. I was easily able to control it. Cant wait to see where this one product leads the lighting world.

Just too Glitchy and Unreliable
I backed these 2nd generation bulbs as part of their KickStarter, and now I'm going to look for something else. My intention was to use these for a commercial location to provide some cool lighting effects for my lobby and lounge, so I bought the big pack which has 5 of the bulbs and 5 of the flood lights. These things are awesome when they work, and the color range is really good, but they're just too unreliable for anything more than a novelty. They disconnect frequently (one bulb will be controlled and another one next to it will not) and I have spent hours trying to get firmware updates to actually take. Their customer support was response and tried to help, but it's clear after multiple emails with trial/error that these things and/or the app are just too buggy for me. I've spent WAY too much time trying to get this simple system to work correctly and reliably. I'm now searching for other alternative systems, because the idea is great but Ilumi has just fallen short on the execution.

Sticking with Hue
If you have 1 bulb by itself, great. If you have multiple bulbs together that are different colors, great. DO NOT, under any circumstances, think that you're going to make multiple lights the same color. No matter what you do, no matter how many times you email or call customer service, the lights will NOT be the same color. Also, selecting a color with the app is more of a suggestion or wishful thinking. DO NOT expect the light to be the color you select. Instead it's going to be something roughly in the neighborhood of the color you "select", but most definitely not what you picked. Even when I set the colors with the same hex code they were different and not the color I selectrd. I ended up putting them outside as landscape lights. The BR30's are definitely bright! They're definitely waterproof! Eight months in South Florida and a not a single issue ... except the app is HORRIFIC, the bulbs will NEVER match each other, and IFTTT works MAYBE once in a blue moon.

I have 4
I have a love hate for these bulbs. The bulbs themselves are great, the app kinda sucks. Obviously your phone has to have bluetooth turned on, it also require location to be on. Pairing them in a hellish nightmare. (Only has to be done once) Load in times to the app are slower then excepted. However, the colors and variety of white light are incredible. I have 4 bulbs and often use 2 for photography as they are much easier then getting out color gels and a strobe.

Needs a better app, not super bright.
EDIT: I would like to add an update that will help with this light bulb. Something that I held against it originally, has turned out to be a decent thing in practice. These bulbs are Bluetooth only. They do not integrate with wi-fi at all. I'm not sure if they do IFTTT, but if not then they aren't very good at working with other smart home devices. THAT SAID, there are some areas I have found that make this useful. For instance, when I use a device that connects to the Internet through wi-fi, it must be left on all the time. That can be frustrating and cause you to have to tape light switches ON or wire them to always on, or otherwise deal with them being disconnected from the network all the time. With these Bluetooth only bulbs, you can just put them in the ceiling and turn them on and off like a normal bulb. They have a very slight (half-second maybe) delay when you flip the switch, but they seem to default to bright white so they can be used like a normal bulb. Once they are turned on, you can use your phone to easily change colors and even choose a "flicker" or candle-light setting which makes it look like your house is on fire. It would be a great setting at Halloween. LOL. I would ALMOST take this up to four stars except the app is still very poor. If the app improves with time, these bulbs may end up being a better deal than they are right now. However, because of the many issues below, I have to leave it at three stars for now - with the note that there might be some scenarios where these do perform as four star bulbs. I am using this bulb in a butler's pantry right now. It is much brighter than the old bulb and gives us much better brightness now. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to set the default setting to a warm white instead of the "Daylight" default setting, so when we turn it on, it is a bit unpleasant and harsh, but it is more light for sure. Being able to set it to default, when turned on with the switch, to a specific warmth of white or color would make it far more useful. ----------------------------Original Review-------------------------- I am very invested in smart home devices right now and have several different brands of lights, including ilumi, sylvania lightify and Philips Hue plus a couple of generic bulbs with various Bluetooth speaker capabilities as well. These do not stand out from the crowd at all. They do come in a very attractive box, and the construction is very good. Linking to my phone with the generation 2 app was very easy. However, the app itself is very immature. They even tell you that you should download the old app if you want scenes and other features that the new app does not have baked in yet. I tried doing that and I could not get the generation 1 app to ever sync with my bulb. It kept giving me an error message. Also, the new app has ONE scene and that is supposed to be a "change with the beat of music" setup but EVERY time I pressed the triangle shaped play button, the app would crash to the home screen. I have an iPhone 6s+ with the latest greatest iOS. No idea why it isn't working, but they seem to be aware that the gen 2 app is rough. The bulb itself isn't overwhelming either. It does a decent job of colors, and one thing it DOES do a little better than the Hue lighting, is the color green. If you own Philips hue lights, you know that (at least gen 1) barely does green at all. This bulb is better than the Hue for green. But I was expecting a brighter bulb. It is advertised as being 1,100 lumens and 15 watts, and that is a pretty bright bulb. It certainly didn't look as bright as I expected. Finally, it is not for outdoor use, so it doesn't have any extra advantage there. Ultimately, it is just a three star bulb that is Bluetooth-only, with no wi-fi integration, making it limited as a smart home device. The colors are good, but not stunning, and the brightness is a bit of a letdown.
