You could use No.6 or No.8 solid copper bare grounding wire, with a 3/4" copper ground rod 8 ft long, with a ground clamp near the top of the ground rod.

I doubt it. If you had two in series and a surge did occur, whichever one had the slightly lower strike voltage would operate and the other wouldn’t do anything. So you might as well just have one to begin with.

Don't really know....this on is recommended for uhf . I used these on hf, vhf and vhf antennas. Look up specs on this for your application.
