I had several reasons for buying this, Mainly, I bought this as a means of being able to Brew Coffee in the event my Power goes out, But, also Nostalgia, as a young kid in the 60's, this was the way my parents made coffee every day and lastly, I'd heard that a Peculator brews a 'Better' cup of Joe over our modern electric coffee makers since it circulates that coffee continuously over the coffee grinds, whereas the electric is basically just a once thru and you are done, and it uses less coffee doing it. I found the Pot to be easy use, more durable than my Glass Carafe Electric coffee maker and super easy to clean, The ONLY downsides I have found so far are that it is supposedly a 9 cup, not sure what 'They' consider a cup, but in the REAL World that translates into about 3 normal coffee mugs of coffee, the 'Other' downside and it's NOT really a downside, is it's not a "Set & Forget", it needs to be watched, especially once it starts brewing as it is possible to Burn the Coffee and or Boil the pot dry, both are extreme cases of sheer neglect, But it can easily happen in Our Modern Technical distracted world, So being attentive while making coffee is something that I suppose we'll ALL need to get use to again if you plan to use this. All in All, I don't pretend to be a Coffee snob, (Yet I can agree that SB's is HORRIBLE Coffee) BUT, I do drink a LOT of coffee, and while I find the Coffee does taste better than the Electric coffee maker, it's not that much to warrant declaring the Electric coffee maker obsolete and tossing it in the garbage. Currently I find myself using this on days when I want more Coffee, But don't want to make a whole New pot full, This fits the bill nicely. Besides, it's just cool and for less than $14 (As of this review), you can't go wrong. I may even end up 'Upgrading' to a Larger model someday, and besides the 'Fun' aspect of making coffee, it's peace of mind knowing if I lose power, where there's fire, whether the Grill, Fire-pit or camp stove, There'll be Coffee.
