It's 500mg per each individual capsule, for a total of 1000mg per "serving". A "serving" is TWO capsules.

I cannot answer your question with complete certainty; however, the following is what the label lists as active ingredients: Krill Oil, Phospholipid--Omega-3 Complex including Omega-3 Fatty Acids EPA and DHA, Astaxanthan. Other ingredients are: Natural mixed tocopheraols and ascorbyl palmitate. Softgel consists of gelatin, glycerin and purified water. Contains: Shellfish (krill, Euphausia superba). No wheat, no gluten, no soybeans, no dairy, no egg, no fish, no peanuts/tree nuts. There is no detail regarding the source of the gelatin, but I would guess it is NOT organic. I chose this brand of Krill Oil because Dave Asprey (Bulletproof) recommended it, and I have been quite happy with it. I've been using it for a year now. I would contact the company directly. You might look at Dr. Mercola's site. He sells Krill Oil, and his gelatin may be organic. You can call them and ask. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Good luck!

My son was in the supplement business in NYC for yrs and he told me this is one of the more honest suppliers. I suggest you email them directly with this question.

why capsules so hard?

They did not appear to be hard to me . I swallowed them along with 7 other vitamins with no problem.
