But do u clean the bottles first and then put in sterilizer? Or direct to sterilizer?** A: I think that’s a great question because it’s misunderstood by a lot of people. The sterilizer is just done after cleaning. Mostly used by parents if their doctor recommendes it. I had a baby in the Nicu for a couple weeks because she was premature and we just used microwave steam bags which were given to us by the hospital for the breast pump parts and are cheap to buy. After she was discharged it wasn’t a big issue for sterilization because cleaning the bottles with hot water is sterile enough in my opinion and my daughter never got sick.
