CROWN Snacking Cakes

I rarely buy or use cookbooks but am so glad I bought this one. The cake recipes are easy, adaptable, and delicious. I’ve probably made about six of the recipes from this cookbook so far and all have turned out great. The recipes follow the same basic steps (dissolve sugar in eggs/egg substitute, whisk in wet ingredients, fold in dry ingredients, bake, glaze or frost) and many can be made with ingredients in a basic stocked pantry. I made the buttermilk vanilla cake with strawberry frosting today and it is heavenly. Highly recommend!

Love this book. Really easy tasty cakes. Anyone can follow this book and the recipes. I like the fact that they don’t take a lot of time but taste really good.

This book is such a cool gift for someone that truly apreciates exploring simples sweets without going for the plain cakes.

We've baked 3 cakes out of this book and all have been wonderful. The chocolate chip espresso cake and the powdered donut cake both deserve special moreish mention. Brilliant to break out of our chocolate sponge cake rut.The recipes all need a single bowl and so are simple enough for my 10 year old to do on her own. We've used the UK measurements without any issue. I had to do a little translation from my daughter (baking soda; confectioners sugar; all purpose flour) but not really an issue.I love that each recipe includes info for using different size/shaped pans and so is just really practical to use. No weird ingredients either, and the author has a laid back attitude to substitutions which is great for a bit of experimentation.

I love this book so much! I’ve had it a week and already baked 3 different cakes. I really like how the author offers alternative ingredient and baking pan instructions so you can adapt the recipe if you don’t have what’s called for. I also like the use of grams in the ingredient measurements because it allows for accuracy.Most of the recipes can be made in a single bowl with a whisk making it so easy!I bought 2 copies. One for me and one for my best friend. We are going to attempt to bake every recipe in this book throughout 2024. She bakes with a toddler so having a simple one bowl recipe will be great.I also want to point out that even though the recipes are simple in method they are not simple in flavour. The book has so many interesting and original cake flavours and combinations, some of which I would never have thought of.I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to bake a cake with out all the faff of getting out a mixer.
