Terrific Paper for fountain pens. Buying a couple more packages
Update: Since my review a year ago I've ordered a few more packages of this paper. I've made a few notebooks now with the 52g/m^2 paper, binding them and using an insert sheet with printed lines for a writing guide. I also write on both sides of the paper. It's quite thin, doesn't bleed, but it's not opaque. I just had to make my lines thicker and darker to show through the writing on the back of the page. Terrific paper. Wonderful paper for fountain pen. This is one of the top 2-3 papers for writing with a fountain pen. Extremely thin--perfect weight for a travel notebook. I make my own notebooks and like to print out light grey lines to help my bad penmanship, but this paper is just too thin to go through the laser printer (a top loading ink jet might work). It doesn't bleed through (I use various Noodler Inks) but it does 'show through.' This show through is faint enough to not be too distracting, but when I write on both sides I just use a dark backing sheet like when you scan or copy something that 'shows through'. Ink takes a bit longer to dry than on more porous laser paper, but I only notice this if I've made pencil marks that I try to erase moments after over writing in ink or I smudge one of the last three lines I've written. So it's like ten seconds with most ink before it won't smudge. Update + three months. I heat bonded 200 sheets of this to some card stock to make a 400 page travel journal. It's almost all filled, held up well. This is thin but very good paper. To help my messy handwriting, I made a lined sheet to place under the page I was writing on. I could see through well enough to keep my lines straight. When I turned my notebook over and started writing pages 200-400 on the back sides, I was concerned that the writing on the other side would obscure the lines. Worked well enough that I'm about to make another notebook. I used an italics nib fountain pen, lays down a lot of ink, Noodler's Polar Blue (Terrific ink absolutely no clogs in three months with minimal maintenance. I think I wiped off the nib a couple of times, and just incase I 'flossed' the feed slot.) Great paper. Almost no smudging unless I smear the ink seconds after I write. No 'blotter' transfer on any of the facing sheets.

The Best Paper for Fountain Pens and Pen Pals
Over the last 6 months, I've tried 15+ different types of fountain pen paper from the more ubiquitous brands (Strathmore, Crane, G. Lalo, Original Crown Mill, Clairefontaine/Rhodia) to the more specialty brands (Yamamoto, Franklin Christoph). I've tried them in different sizes, different weights, different cotton blends, and different finishes. If you like fountain pens, this paper is the absolute best. - The lighter weight variety has very slight ghosting (show through) but some people like that. - There's absolutely no bleeding or feathering. - It shows sheening and shading like no other. Even your most boring inks will look exotic and gorgeous on this paper. - The dry time for inks (especially high sheen) is reasonable. - Both weights are fantastic for writing letters. You can cram so many sheets in an envelope and not worry about needing extra stamps. - Yamamoto paper is the only paper that I've found that makes inks look even better. But it's impossible to get in the US without a grey market buyer and it's coating that makes it so smooth and the ink lovely is extremely smudgeable and reacts quickly to the oils in your hands. So I prefer Tomoe RIver to writing with gloves on. One quick note: There's a rumor that they bought new machines and the paper isn't quite the same as the Tomoe I've been buying for years. I may have received an old batch but I doubt it. It's still the best you'll find.

THE paper for fountain pens
I've tried fifteen kinds of paper, seen plenty. This is the best stuff I know. It somehow REALLY keeps the ink from feathering. You think your paper already does that? Yeah, try *this* stuff. You know how some fountainpen inks, you get this little "glow" edge along the sides of the pen stroke? This paper brings that effect out, big time. It's ’cuz the ink isn't feathering AT ALL. Not even micro-feathering. I don't know how it works. I just know it's good. One caution. It's weird delicate paper. Like, if you drape it over some books, it behaves a little like *cloth* would. It's VERY flexible, and very thin. You would think this would mean the ink would go right through it, but no. Tip: Get a good, gushing EF-nib pen, and ink it with Monteverde "Gratitude" (it's a plum purple). Then write a letter to somebody, using this Tamoe paper. You'll never go back.

Great value! Made 5 B6 inserts of 20 sheets each from this pack of 100 sheets!
For those of you who like making their own inserts for their leather journal covers, I’d say this is quite a good deal. Fabulous Tomoe River paper, which is fountain-pen- and watercolor-friendly yet thin and light enough to carry around. Out of this pack of 100 loose-leaf pages, I’ve made 5 self-bound B6 notebook inserts of 20 sheets each. I’ve ordered this twice and made a total of 10 B6 inserts - all of my oages have watercolor backgrounds and I use fountain pens with waterproof ink on them - they work beautifully together!

Fountain pen paper
Love this paper! Every fountain pen user "must have", seriously. Very this, easy to crinkle unfortunately, but, that's the way it is. Very light weight and I'm able to fit more pages into the envelope with 1 stamp :) I print out a seyes ruled (French) paper on card stock and put it behind the Tomoe River paper to use as a guide; easy to see through! I'll definitely be ordering this again once I get closer to running out. I really want to try the heavier/thicker Tomoe River paper.

For Fountain Pen Enthusiasts Only
This paper brings out the most beautiful qualities of fancy fountain pen inks (ones that have shimmer, sheen, shading), and makes even the less fancy ones look lovely. No feathering, no bleedthrough though there is ghosting on account that the paper is so thin. The thinness is nice because it means that you can put hand-writing guides behind it and it'll be fine. It's thinness makes it seem cheap to people who are not fountain pen enthusiasts. You're not using the back of the paper for letter-writing. It is a bit expensive. IMHO, no reason to buy it UNLESS you have a fountain pen and the inks with aforementioned qualities. Nothing else makes my J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor look as lovely.

Great for writing with fountain pens
Great for writing with fountain pens! This paper is very very thin, so thin it looks like wax paper that hamburgers are put on. EVEN SO, ink does not bleed and it writes with a very smooth feeling. If you're looking for a great writing paper and don't mind it being a little thin then this is a good option. I have a Lamy safari with noodlers ink I write with.

If you love sheening inks
If you love sheening inks, this paper is amazing!!! It is thin and almost see through like a thin vellum, but I've never had inks show shimmer and sheen on any other paper the way this one does. Favorite inks to use on this are Organics Nitrogen Royal Blue, J Herbin Shimmering inks, Sailor Sky High, Diamine Saragasso Sea and shading inks like Apache Sunset. Because of the price, I save these for writing to pen pals and to insert and attach to greeting cards.
