UPDATE - They work great... BUT...
Received these late last February and loved using them - until the silicon cover on the right side fell off on its own and got lost last week (barely 5 months of non-sport usage). Don't know where or how to get a replacement silicone cover and really don't want to have to buy another entire headset because of that - otherwise I would have given this one 5 stars. UPDATE: Shockz replaced the product for me - in fact they upgraded me for free to new OpenRun since they had discontinued my model - return process was very smooth and interaction with the company was very professional and constructive. VERY happy with their product/service and will definitely stick around!

Great for cycling - check your fit
Use for urban and road cycling. Very functional and easy going. Sturdy too. Good battery life. Never looses connection to my phone. However, I have "touchy" ears and temples so after riding for some hours they are less comfortable due to the pressure - so one star off. Wind at riding speeds will make conversations difficult. You can hear what people are saying but they get almost wind noise.

They work well, but they are a compromise.
These headphones work well, but they are a compromise. When playing music, the sound is ok, not great, but for me it is an easy tradeoff for not having anything stuck in my ears. These are not good for blasting music. If the volume is too high, there can be an uncomfortable buzzing sensation, but this can be avoided by adjusting volume or repositioning. I have been told that the sound quality when I talk on the phone is great โ others wouldn't guess I was using headphones. The controls are fairly simple to use, but the button action beeps are quite loud.

I love these headphones.
I love these headphones. I had a very specific set of requirements and these Trekz Air headphones fulfill them perfectly. I cycle to work daily so... 1. I needed something which was sweat proof 2. I needed to keep my ears open for traffic 3. I needed good noise cancelling microphone in case I have to talk on the phone while cycling After doing a lot of research I honed in on these. It seems they had all the requirements. After I tried them I was instantly in love. The music quality is not bose or jbl level but you can definitely enjoy it while you are cycling, running, or working out. The bone conduction technology makes it feel as if I am not wearing anything at all and the music is coming from my surroundings. And the noise cancellation mic is the best i have seen in wireless headphones. I tested it in full traffic with auto rickshaws puttering loudly, cars honking, and a lot of noise. My wife on the other end could clearly hear my voice and said she just heard a very faint sound of the background traffic. Faint enough to not be any problem in our conversation at all.

These have become my "go to" headphones
When I first saw these in a bike shop, I thought they were intriguing but nothing special. Then a friend bought a pair and I tried them on and liked them more. I read some reviews that had been posted about people using these under their ski helmet so I thought I would give them a try. That did not work for me because I could feel them under my ski helmet so I decided not to use them for skiing. But I use them EXTENSIVELY while cycling and most casual occasions where I want to listen to music. As long as you set your expectations appropriately, these are AWESOME. What I mean be setting your expectation appropriately is don't expect audiophile performance. These work best as headphones that let you hear your music while also being able to hear what is going on around you. Unlike a small portable speaker that is competing with all the environment noise around you, the music from these headphones is literally in your head. The sound quality is very good and you don't need to crank up the sound to hear your music. You could literally have a conversation with someone while listening to your music. What I have found while using them on my bike is that initially, they aren't loud enough to hear the music. But after a few minutes, my hearing adjusts to these headphones and I have to turn the music volume down. And I have the added benefit of being able to hear everything going on around me on my bike. If you find a pair on display here is a little experiment to try. Plug your ears with your fingers and you will be amazed how loud these actually are. These ship with earplugs for noise isolation. I used them on a flight but the provided earplugs are pretty cheap. I plan to get some better earplugs for noise isolation on a flight. I have a pair of AirPods and they have a better quality sound. But since I want to hear what is going on around me, I only use the AirPods for phone calls. Plus, the battery on these last a lot longer than my AirPods while riding a bike. I would definitely buy these again, but I would buy the Aeropex model because it is newer and has a longer battery life. I also believe they are slightly smaller which might make them better for skiing. All that said, these are not perfect. They look kinda dorky but so did the AirPods before they became a fashion item. The loop around the back of the head limits where you can use them. For example, you really can't lay down with them on. I am sure this implementation is probably the best compromise they were able to achieve at this point in time. That said, they work for 80-90% of how I want to use them.

One of my "Go-To" audio devices
I've been using the AfterShokz Trekz Air since receiving it on Tuesday afternoon (ordered Sunday through Prime - kudos). I'd been reading about bone conduction headphones for some time now but was waiting to more reviews and a sale at under AU$200 (RRP AU$240). Most reviews from various forums will list a number of the AfterShoks brand, which was positive in my books and led to my decision. I eventually spent $50 extra to go for the Air instead of its predecessor, the Titanium due to it's weight/size and a few updates/improvements according to other reviewers. The Airs have performed to my expectations: - Clear audio (including voice calls) - Great for podcasts - Acceptable for music (not designed for it) - Lightweight - Band feels durable (too soon to tell) - Strong bluetooth connection (compared to my Shure Bluetooth SE-112) - High volume without audio breaking - Comfortable fit Cons: - Band is semi-stiff so it's not comfortable in certain positions (eg laying in bed) - Significant vibration testing at high volume (caused a bit of nausea after 5 minutes) - Device turned off after 2 or 3 warnings for low battery (approximately after 20 minutes; Shures last about 40 minutes) Bone conduction headphones are designed to be aware of a person's surroundings yet being able to enjoy ambient audio. Accordingly, as all other reviewers have reported, do not expect music audio (especially bass reproduction) to be in the same league as On/Over-Ear or In-Ear headphones and earphones - IT IS NOT DESIGNED FOR THAT PURPOSE. I work in an open office and my position requires me to talk with my colleagues throughout the day. When I need to focus for a project, I use my earphones or headphones (Shure, Bose, Sennheiser, Bluedio etc - I have purchased a few of each brand over the years) where I can enjoy better sound reproduction for music and silence my surroundings. Overall, I am continually amazed at bone conduction technology and have enjoyed the AfterShokz Trekz Air thoroughly. It is a specific use headphone that I will be enjoying for the office, light gardening, jogging and cycling (to be tested). Per my headline, this and my Shures will be my daily "Go-To" audio devices.
