ZyXEL Switch Gs1900 24p Poe

Great little switch that suits my needs perfectly. Runs silent and the PoE works great. The web UI is decent enough to get the job done and intuitive enough to not have to read any documentation to figure it out. Love that it comes with a rack mount as well.

I had 4 power bricks for POE devices(Yuk) 12 ports of POE and 12 standard ports, fairly easy setup. If you can setup your cable router thru its webpage, you can do this easily.

Obviously, this is a SOHO/SMB switch company. It's not designed to be a HA, dual PSU enterprise grade aggregation switch with a well known CLI. There are compromises that the purchaser needs to be aware of and do their research first, before slamming someone's work, as if they were intentionally deceived. If you want near enterprise grade, spend the $1200+ for that type of switch. You'll get what you paid for, and it'll last for many years without issues. For example, the GS1900-24HPv2 from Zyxel is 24 ports of active PoE, with a 375W PSU to back up all the ports, and so on. So many of the reviewers can't seem to do the math for TOTAL PoE / ports (130W total power for all PoE ports, using 802.11at; is 12.95W ea @ the device), total power isn't sufficient for all ports to be lit with ~13W of PoE on a 24 port switch at one time. This should be obvious to anyone in networking, or someone that can read the specs on the vendor's website. What attracted me most to this switch is that it's convective for cooling (fanless) as opposed to using fans. It sits right next to my office desk. My former switch was fan based and gave me headaches for months, so it had to go. This Zyxel 1900-24EP switch is a fine 'smart' managed' switching product for SOHO as my "aggregation" switch with plenty of capacity to power my access points, my IP phones and my cameras (8 total PoE devices). It's at a decent price that a technical worker can afford, and is reasonably configurable with a decent GUI and a frankly terrible CLI (like I said previously, not an enterprise grade device). The backplane seems fast enough that I noticed a slight bump in network responsiveness replacing an old Cisco SMB switch with this device.

This switch works as advertised. Twelve of the ports supply POE, its response seems fast. BUT, Zyxel does NOT allow customers to register this device. The printed material encourages you to register it on their web site but the website does not recognize it and will not register it. I take to customer support which verified my zyxel switch but told me zyxel does not allow registration of this model. I WHICH MEANS THE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THIS DEVICE. No warranty information was provided in the documentation with this unit. This is the main reason for the two stars.it this device does tomorrow I am out of options and this is a throw away produce with NO support from ZYXEL.

Switch is fine for SOHO usage, but fan is too noisy to use it at office environments.
