Kenmore 9980-KM 9980 Refrigerator Water Filter

There is a gigantic price difference between the OEM Kenmore Elite #9980 refrigerator water filter and it's competitor replacements. Unless you live somewhere with nasty tasting tap water, and maybe even then, the "Amazon's Choice" replacements (3pk at a fraction of the cost) work just fine, and the water tastes just as good.

I am very satisfied with this Kenmore 9980 - Water filter that I purchased from MORE Pure filter's. I went to buy it from Sears - it was way more expensive and it was going to take two weeks to get it. I went on Amazon and found it with MORE Pure filter's - not only was it cheaper but I got it within two days. I actually have already purchased another one for a back up. thank you!!!

Noticed a weird chemical taste to the water after installing this filter. This was a replacement for the same model filter. I have never noticed that before but initially thought it was due to a high chlorine content in the water due to the drought. The taste persisted and the return window closed. I contacted Kenmore who refused to honor a return or replacement and told me to contact the Seller. Not sure if the filter was old/expired but something was terribly wrong. There is not expiration date on the filter itself.

Idk much about filters but i feel like we need to change it very frequent. I would say maybe like every two months or so (Not sure how often you should change it), i have also notice that about 2/3 weeks before its time to change it the water taste a little funky.

This the first time since we had to replace our refrigerator that the filters were due to be replaced. I could not remove the old filter at all. I had to call service to come out to replace them for me. Luckily we have service contacts so no cost to us.
