If you want to use it as a journal cover, however, and the spine of your notebook is going to cover it anyway, then it doesn't matter really? I cut the ring binder out with a cutting knife and although I tried, I couldn't make it look pretty. But When I put my journal in I can't' see it anyway, so I'm super pleased with it.
