Use this for a secondary lock on my bike rack. Number wheels are a bit stiff, easy to set combo.Pros : big numbers for bad eyesCons : big numbers for good eyes looking over your shoulder.But if you depend on solely a cable lock you can’t be too worried.

Lost the keys to my previous cable lock that we use for our Burley trailer--we were using a Python MasterLock before. I was torn with going to a combo lock because of all the bad news I'd heard about the combo changing on you if you left it out too long (just superstition or bad memory I assume, mostly). It's a great lock at a great price. OnGuard is kind of the low end of consumer bike locks--sure they make a few quality products, but most of it is cheap stuff. The combo area is pretty bulky (touted as a security feature, but more than likely it's just necessity), but the lock is long and it's got a deterring diameter cable (nothing is thick enough when the cable cutters actually come to bear--but this one is thick enough to turn you off before trying). It also is flexible enough that you can wrap it up pretty compact--ie, not a coil-cable lock). Overall, pretty positive impression.We use cable locks like this to lock up our trailer outside in the inner-city. Never had a lock cut, but we aim 12mm and above on our cable diameter.

A Nice Medium Grade Lock. It's not going to protect a $1,000 bike in Manhattan, but it is fine for short term protection of most bikes. If you have a really nice bike that is going to be outdoors you really need a U-bolt lock. This is fine for locking a bike on a car rack, but you might need a second cable so you can secure it to something solid on the car. Just locking the bike to the rack is not really enough. This cable can probably be cut with bolt cutters, so watch out if you see someone with bolt cutters walking by. The resettable feature is very handy. You can set the four digits to something you can easily remember. It's very easy to change the combination so you could share the combination with a friend and then change it later. It comes in two thicknesses. The thicker version is more secure, but the cable is harder to make small.

I lost it shortly after getting it (commuting mishap at 6am, didn't notice it hit the road). It's long, the lock itself is silky-smooth, and it's overall nice quality. Really easy to use is all respects.I had trouble figuring out where to put it while riding. If you don't have a backpack or panniers then I don't know... it's semi-big, there's no frame mount. This isn't a knock on the lock, just a consideration. My old lock mounted to the frame and I miss that more than I thought I would have.All that said, I ride a $150 Craigslist bike so it was really complete overkill. I replaced it with a Target $5 job because if someone wants my 25+ year old bike THAT bad they can have it.For some reason I failed to ask myself just how much I cared about my bike before getting this.

*UPDATE*4 years later: still works great! The plastic part broke off due to all the time in the sun, but it doesn't effect performance.***End update***Very nice lock. Probably the nicest I have owned. Very nice clicking sound as it turns around, and it is pretty easy to see the numbers.The best part of it is the lock doesn't have the memory in the coil. After you take off the straps holding it in a coil it acts almost like a pole laying out straight.It is flexible and strong without being too big. I can wrap it around my bike near the handlebars so I don't have to carry it in my backpack, and it doesn't get in the way of my moving legs.I am now going to buy one for my road bike as well. I purchase a lock for my road bike a couple of weeks ago, for a couple of bucks less than this one, that has given me nothing but trouble. Ick...

The quality of the cable and lock appear good, but the plastic bit (the yellow/black part on either side of the combination numbers) is flimsy and one side of is was already detached when I got the item. It appeared that it had been glued in place and the glue was minimal and failed completely.This is only cosmetic, as under this plastic bit is simply the cable going into the lock portion. The cable and the lock appear sturdy.The flimsily nature of the plastic covers makes it look and felt flimsy, but underneath is is not.

I bought about 5-6 of these to use outdoors to secure baseball equipment to fences. One of the end caps popped off one of the cable locks but I managed to get it back on. Maybe just a freak accident that forced the cap to come off. Other than that the locks are working well so far.

Easy to read and unlock. The number dials are set in a bit and often as I turn one, the dial next to it turns as well (more of a challenge if you have larger fingers). I really like that the “chain” does not coil, making it very easy to wrap around my bike and whatever I lock it too- but also means that when not in use it doesn’t coil for easy storage. Still give 5 stars.

Very useful, seems very well made. I wanted a lock that wasn't coiled so that I can get it around large objects like lamp posts without difficulty. Easy to set up the combination. Seems well made, though, looking at the thickness of the cable, a determined thief with a decent bolt cutter could get through it, but I expected that for the price.Even though it was available on Amazon Prime Amazon had trouble locating the article and it took about five weeks for them to get it to me.

Simple to set, excellent quality !!! Bought 2 !
