Very shiny shoes but also stinky feet now
I work long hours so need good wearing shoes that fit well and last.DM’s are a great brand so when my last shoes wore out I decided to go for these. They took just over a week to adjust to my feet and I only had one small blister.I like to shine my shoes daily as they get scuffed easily, these shine really well, that I have had comments about being in the army.I always put a pair of fresh-ins in my shoes (very thin fresh smelling insoles). 3 weeks in, I began to notice my feet smelling. These shoes make my feet sweat and it creates a yucky smell which is odd as I have never noticed this before with Clark’s shoes I have had in the past. I am questioning whether these are genuine DM’s, a poor design or just not suited to being worn for up to 10 hours a day.

Disappointing quality
6 months in after buying my Doc Marten shoes and the leather by my small toes is already cracked and on the right shoe open showing my sock. I’ve kept them in good nick using Doc Marten’s own ‘Wonder Balsam’ fairly regularly so this is extremely disappointing. It’s a cliche but the quality on here ain’t what it used to be.

Size issue
I have bought 2 pairs of these in the last 10 days 1 size 7 and 1 size 8, with the 7s my toes felt a bit cramped and with the 8s the shoe feel a bit big I had to buy some heel cushions to make them fit better shame they don't do a half size. One last thing neither pair had the logo-embossed on the lateral heel as stated in the advert.

Used? I don't think so....
Out of curiosity, I decided to click on the '1 used' option and found that Amazon Warehouse was selling 1 pair for £25. It seems they were a returned item but the pair I received were boxed, labelled and in pristine condition. I couldn't believe my luck. I would have returned them if they looked in any way used but these are brand new. I would consider this option again, particularly with the 30 day return policy. The Docs are very comfortable, smart and I think they are fab.

So far, so good.
I've had Dr. Martens shoes a lot in the past, but have recently been put off by the escalating price. However, here they are at least £20 cheaper than I can buy on the Reading high street, so have been tempted once again.I was wary about buying shoes on-line, in case they are not the right size; I popped into the local store to try on different sizes, to make sure that what I eventually ordered from Amazon was correct. The shoes turned up quickly, in a Dr. Martens box, with a spare pair of (admittedly bright yellow!) laces - my son now has those!I had forgotten just how tough the shoe leather is to start with, how badly they rub my heels, and how long they take to wear in; I've not forgotten how comfortable they are once I get past this pain barrier! Now all I have to see is if they last as long as they used to; previous reviews I've seen indicate that they don't, and the translucency and softness of the soles would seem to back this up, but we'll see...
