Isabey Siberian Blue Travel Brush, Squirrel Quill, 0, Natural

It holds lots of water and swooshes around beautifully. I love this brush.

I received this brush as a gift so I don't have a verified purchase status,however, this is the second Isabey brush I've gotten that sadly is defective. Brand new the ferrule separated from the brush and the wires holding the plastic were loose rendering the brush completely unusable. I really can't recommend Isabey brushes at all just from my personal experience. I'm sure they're fine for some people, but for 30$ + each it's too expensive for poor quality.

I adore this travel brush. Carries lots of water and paint, just right for my tiny paint set and 3 x 5 watercolor sketches. BUT the material which wraps the hairs disintegrated when wet. Now the first copper wire is loose. I can still use it but for about $38, I expect it to last not dissolve. Please use something that will not dissolve to wrap the hairs and I will buy another one. In every other way it is my favorite travel brush.

The wires on the ferrule are sharp and are very loose. They slide back and forth. The bristles do not hold as fine a point as I was hoping for either. I don’t know why I didn’t pay closer attention to other reviews. This brush just doesn’t cut it. For this price it should be made better. And I am not the first to complain of this problem. Many others have said this on various websites. There are just aren’t that many choices when i comes to a small mop travel brush being available. So I bought it. Waste of money.

This is a really small quill mop so I keep in in my watercolor kit for my handbag. Quill mops are hard to find in travel brush configuration so I took a chance and know that Isabey is one of the best. My only caveat is that the wire wrap sticks out where it is twisted to the ferrule and catches on things (like me!). I think it is secure just not pushed tight to the ferrule. I haven’t tried crimping it yet - maybe that would solve the problem. But that is the main reason for the 4 stars and it is so tiny which I’m finding not very useful for a mop.
