Q: is this the clear or the white version?

This is the clear version. Reaction is like a super hold. I love this product but although the video says that it does not flake, it does flake the next day.

Q: what is the top of get used for?

The top of the gel? I don't think you use it for anything. Maybe it shows how the hair is supposed to look like?

Q: Does it make your hair still feel soft or does it become crunchy? How strong is the hold of it?

To tell you the truth, I’m still using this product and will as long as it does what it’s job is, to keep my hair nicely set. I choose to have my hair short and it holds it down just right. A little dab on my fingers running them through my hair does the job. A hair dryer now and then to set my hair as I wanted is even better. The hold is strong just don’t over do it or it’ll be too crunchy.
