Peculiar Printing
Such a peculiar printing of a book - it’s as if someone copy and pasted the original book on larger paper including the page numbers right in the text…?

A Children's Classic
A classic written for children of all ages, but not at a minimal level. A child has to have at least a grade 4 reading level to enjoy this book, I think. (I am a teacher.) Bonsels writes simply, but uses a wonderful range of vocabulary. I recommend this book heartily, having read it when I was a child, and never having forgotten the charming story of Maya, a rebellious baby bee, who wants to be free to roam the beautiful world, which Bonsels unfolds to us through Maya's adventures with friend and foe alike. I read it to classes, gave it to my grandchildren, and continue to enjoy it every time I read it.

"The Adventures of Maya The Bee" ~ a must read & a short one as well ~
This is not just a children's story; I first read it this year at age 74 & enjoyed it so much that I want it read to me when I'm about to pass on! The insights offered in perspective based upon each character's way of life (insects, spiders, etc.) shows how much we think we know based on how we perceive. One's past experiences color the view of things in hilarious ways. Polite behavior, the poetic appoach to all of nature herein ~ these are hallmarks of a book designed to teach, amuse, and enlarge our views. I had to read it aloud!

A CHARMING BOOK THAT IS NOT JUST FOR CHILDREN
I absolutely loved this little book. I had read it as a child about ten times. Then lost my copy somewhere along the way between childhood and becoming an adult. it would cross my mine every so often through the years, and than I would forget about it. Now that the bee colonies are dying through the use of deadly pesticides I searched on Amazon and was delighted to find it again. You will never wonder about the power, magic, and service these hard working bees do for the world and humanity again. Maya is a hard working little bee that serves her queen and has quite a few adventures along with some dangerous situations.

A charming and wise book.
This charming book was known to me from my childhood. It was originally published in Germany in 1922 and describes the adventures of a young bee that does not wish to conform to the work and standards in her hive. After many adventures with different kinds of flying and non-flying insects she is captured by a swarm of hornets. During her captivity she hears about a plan to destroy her hive, somehow escapes and succeeds in warning her home hive. Before giving the book to my grandchildren I wanted to re-read it and I did that with great pleasure. I warmly recommend it.

I loved it when I was 4 years old
This is one of the sweetest books for all ages . I loved it when I was 4 years old. I read it with my husband in bed when we were young married and laughed, and laughed. Now with age 71 I bought it for a beekeeper and the same magic carried me in Maya's world.

I loved it!
Great story and great ending. Wondrous real-life detail which made me learn things, even though not everything was true. A great read for children and children-at-heart!

Not a children's book
I thought this was a children's book. Should have given more attention to reviews.

Lovely book
We liked when she escaped from the Hornets. And we liked all the little stories of all the different insects which she met on her travels. My 6 1/2 year-old really enjoyed this book, children of a similar age will enjoy it too.
