I've tried most of the recipes and me and my family and friends have yet to be disappointed. In fact, after trying a new recipe, the reaction is typically, "Wow! That's amazing!" all around the table, even from people who aren't typically fans of eating wild game.The text is explanatory and straightforward. There's no fluff, and the author clearly has experience with all of the topics covered in this book. There are also plenty of clear, full-color photos not just for showing off the recipes, but for showing you unmistakably where and how, for example, to cut and wrap a bottom round or a rack of ribs. The book also covers, in a very graspable, non-scientific way, topics like aging meat. There are OTHER books that will get you down "in the weeds" if you want to read chapter after chapter about the exacting details of butchery or the minutiae of what's going on at the molecular level when aging meat in various conditions. Has great diagrams and basic how-tos on cooking and cleaning game. I have tried several of the recipes exactly and am never disappointed, and I have used many more of the recipes as a template for my own creations with varying degrees of success. A few of these (especially the bbq style rabbit dish) have become my favorite dishes to cook. Also, these dishes don’t have to be for the specified meat. I have done all sorts of variations and have used domestic game instead of wild at times. There is a good variety of recipes and all sorts of interesting meat types included.
