Every time I watched a movie I would become anxious as to whether or not I'd be able to finish watching. I finally decided to try this Panasonic player. I have never owned a Panasonic before (always thinking it was an inferior brand...boy was I wrong). I have owned this player for a couple of weeks now and have not had any issues; not one single freeze up whatsoever. The build quality is excellent; almost as good as the Oppo players I own (I have at least 5). Word of warning, the player does get a little warm after a couple of hours of play. The region free part works well and is easy to do (I could never figure out the feature on the Sony). The seller (220 electronics) put a piece of paper inside the box explaining how to manipulate the switch between regions which has worked flawlessly so far (many thanks to them). It pops up "Resume" when I come back to watch a movie. **Q: Have there been any reported freezing problems midway through any specific blu-ray movies?** A: I've had mine for over 3 years and it doesn't often freeze during playback, but it does tend to freeze using the YouTube app fairly frequently - oddly enough it's always during ads. It's probably frozen during playback about 4 or 5 times in the 3 years **Q: Why is this bring sold on Amazon for $1599 when the listed manufacturer price from Panasonic is $999? This is a ripoff!** A: You might also notice that this player features 4k while some other offerings are limited to 1k. That also adds value to the more expensive version. You need to compare apples to apple and oranges to oranges before you make such harsh criticisms of the $1399 version over the $999 version. Bothe versions are available through Amazon. Both video and audio have been outstanding after 30 hours or so of use. This player was a step into the dark for me, but the results have justified the gamble, and my wife concurs. Up conversion on our collection of British movie DVDs is excellent, particularly the audio. Comprehension of some of the thicker dialects, which vaguely resemble spoken English, can be a challenge at times. And, of course, 4K/Ultra HD is spectacular. Our previous player and TV, nominally 4K, weren't in the same league. Setup couldn't have been simpler, with the caveat that time spent in researching the myriad ways this thing can configured is well spent.
