Q: what is the diameter?

LENGTH: 300 mm (12 INCH) in length which is longer than an average stirrers glass;a diameter of 6 mm (0.23 inches).

Q: Are they microwave safe?

I don’t know. There has never been a reason for me to stick them in the microwave.

Q: How hot can they get?

They are glass rods and would have no problem at 220 degrees F. I expect if you got the glass red hot to do glass art, these rods would work well for that as well. I use the rods to stir flavored water which I make in a large pitcher.
