Zebra F-xMD Ballpoint 1.0mm Silver 24380 - (2017 Replacement for F-701)

Awesome pen. I replaced the refill with a Fisher space pen refill. Required swapping springs in/out of other pens till I got one that allowed it to extend/retract properly. The fisher refill is 0.0035" longer than the original zebra ink cartridge. Also, it was shipped in a plastic bag, not the packaging shown in the listing. There was a sticker on the pen barrel that when I removed it left a lot of sticky residue. I had to clean it up with 91% isopropanol.

This pen is my definition of a great value product. Been looking for an edc pen for ages, and wanted to figure out what all the hype was about (these pens and the f-701 come up often amongst edc enthousiasts). Did not dissapoint, even compared to some of my Rotring pens!

This is a very nice pen! - It has a quality "feel" about it, and it writes very smoothly. I like the understated, all stainless steel construction, and the knurling at the pointy end - where one would normally grip the pen in use. Even though it is made from stainless steel, it is still very lightweight, and completely unnoticeable when carried in a pocket. The pocket clip functions well, and keeps the pen wherever you've clipped it. This particular pen replaces the Zebra F701 model, which has been a long-time favourite by "every day carry" aficionados, as such pens could, if it came to the crunch, also be used as a self defence tool. - They are certainly constructed well enough!!! Overall, it just gives that unquantifiable "nice to use" sort of feeling that certain items seem to do. - A great pen for the price.
