A reviewer below mentions that this brush has nylon quills, but the D82 model is supposed to be just boar bristles. Can someone confirm?

This brush IS just boar bristles & I was confused by that one commenter's post that it had nylon quills. It does NOT. There IS a Denman brush that does but its description clearly indicates "nylon pins". For the record, I own that brush also & it has boar bristles with a nylon pin in the center of each cluster of bristles. I use the 100% boar bristle brush for smoothing & on my delicate edges & the boar bristles with nylon pins for reaching my scalp thru my very thick hair. The 100% boar bristle brush will not penetrate thick hair so choose carefully based on your hair density & styling needs or buy both for each need like I did. I hope this helps!

What is natural bristle? Is it boar?

Yes, it is mostly boar bristle with a single nylon bristle in each 'thatch' or bunch. It's a nice brush. We've had a few Jean Pierre brushes and I like this one better. It works great for long hair, wet or dry.

is this as good as a Mason Pearson? does it last as long? have the same quality of bristles &perform as well on the hair making hair smooth & shiny

Simply no. It is not as quality, but for the price, it is competitively good. It is what I could afford at this time and the brush is performing well. I daresay it will not be as sturdy as the Mason Pearson, but if you are looking to cut prices, it is a great buy. Denmans are great brushes too.

I have to really press the brush against my scalp for it to brush any hair. Otherwides it just glides on top. Am I doing something wrong? Fine hair.

I bought this for my husband who is balding so he would have a nice brush that wouldn't hurt his scalp - he loves it. I have used it on my hair, I have very fine, very long hair and it seems to work ok and feels good on my scalp but I prefer my Denman nylon styling brush as it works better for me. I'm not surprised that you have to push hard if you have a lot of hair - although that brush is a great scalp massager:)
