CenturyLink Fiber Users: No VLAN setting here! Will need another router
October 2022 -- For 90% of the DSL, cable, or direct internet users here, the Tenda MW12 is a great system, easy to setup, easy to use, strong signals, and has decent node switching while moving about the house. For the price, a great deal from a little known company. For anyone on a fiber network (I have CenturyLink), you will still need another router in front of the primary MW12 node as you can not set a VLAN id, in this case 201 for CenturyLink in the PPoE settings. Its just not there. So, for my setup, I have my old Asus with wifi turned off, acting as my PPoE router to the fiber ONT, and then have the Tenda MW12 in bridge mode. This way the same IP network shows up on the Tenda wifi and no dual nat situation present (you can also do a static network route from your main router to the Tenda network). However, the bridge mode only showed up after I did a firmware upgrade on the Tendas.Long story, I will probably return the MW12s as the entire point was to go direct from the Fiber ONT to the MW12 and that's it. I do have a 8 port tenda unmanaged switch connected to the MW12 as most of my office gear is CAT6 connected and those work great, but mind you, the MW12s only have 2 RJ45 ports on the bottom.

Easy to install. Works well
Had a set of three and it worked so well, I’ve added another set of three. Have tried many other options and this is my favorite. Range extenders only work as well as the weakest link. A well configured mesh can work even better than the best link in the system. Each node receives from all the other nodes it can reach and adds it to the available bandwidth. So if a node in my kitchen receives a great signal (100%) from the base station and a poor signal (20%) from my bedroom, then if I’m in the kitchen, I get to use up to 120% of the rated bandwidth. This is extremely easy to setup. Do not understand why it is getting some knocks. It works great.

Updated Review 03/23 - Died less then two years after purchase
UPDATE 03/23 - So my original review is below and I was very happy with this product until a couple of days ago when it stopped working. Just died. None of my troubleshooting has helped and I'm out of ideas. Pretty disappointing since it's not even two years old. I'm downgrading my review from 4 stars to 2 and based on this I can't recommend this product. AvoidI just moved from a 1200 sqft house to one just over 4500 sqft, so my trusty Netgear wi-fi router was needing an upgrade. I was a little hesitant on this purchase since I've never heard of the brand before, but after reading some positive reviews and finding the price agreeable, I went for it.This is a great wi-fi system for someone who isn't tech savvy, or just wants a simple to set up home network. It comes with three "nodes" (each a small cube with a power supply). Power off your cable modem, connect one of the nodes to it with an ethernet cable, then plug the modem back in. From there download the Tenda App and follow the setup directions, entering the SSID and password that is on the back of all the nodes. Easy! Once the primary node is connected to your modem, just plug the other two nodes into a power supply anywhere in your home and they connect automatically. I had everything setup in under 5 minutes. Each node has two ethernet ports for wired connections. In terms of coverage, this system delivers as promised. I have two nodes in my main level and one downstairs and I have an excellent signal throughout my entire 4500 sqft house, garage and driveway. Doing some testing with my tablet, devices connect automatically to the closest node, and switch seamlessly if you're mobile.Understand this is not one of those routers you can log into via your browser and make complex rules. All management is done through the app with no extra bells and whistles. You can see anything that's offline, a list of devices connected to your network, change your network name and password etc. That was all I was looking for, so I'm not worried but if you want more control over your router, this might not be for you. It does include WPA2-PSK encryption, so security should be good.Absolutely a great system if you're looking for a strong, secure wi-fi signal in a large area with minimal setup. Recommended!

Rick solid WiFi
Set up was very easy. Took a while to get comfortable with the workings of the app. My config has each of the three boxes hard wired in different parts of our home. The WiFi has been 100% since I installed them.

Throughput is amazing
I have the MW12 for about 2 weeks now. After struggling with my wifi signal around the house for ages, having the MW12 was an instant relief. I now have full signal in every room as well as all around outside my house. The throughput is amazing.I would score it 5 stars if the management interface allowed for more advanced settings. Everything else works exceedingly well. The "parental controls" are really only a time limit you can set on a group of devices. The app appears to do intermittent polling, so you never truly see "real-time" usage as they claim.Definitely meant for plug-and-play kind of use. If you want more network related features, I'd suggest bridging it with another router.A great buy to exponentially expand coverage and throughput.

Works great but best when hard wired
These work great but if you have solid concrete walls you will need to hardwire them for best coverage.

Excellent Hard, weak software
Sign up with Chinese mobile phone number only. It sucks, noway to register with email address, it looks Tenda has not yet prepared to do business overseas.
