Q: The material used for our bathroom sink is the same as the countertop, could it stand being under water while brushing teeth, etc.?

This product is made from the same material that is used for vehicle graphics - the ads you see on cars and trucks. So it's made to withstand outdoor weather (rain, etc) for up to 4 years. That said, the success of using this in your sink really depends on the installation. I would try to avoid seams in the bottom of the sink and reinforce seams with clear caulk. Q: can you lay it on top of old tiles

Yes and no. It depends on the quality of the surface you are installing it on - if the tiles are raised, then the texture of the tiles will show through the material. It would look like granite tiles, and some customers have intentionally done just that. However, if the tiles or the grout is porous, the material would not stick well - this product requires a non porous for best results. If you are concerned about the material sticking to the grout of your tiles, then before laying it down you could use a substance like liquid nails on the grout so that the Instant Granite sticks to it. However, this would make the application permanent, not removeable.

Q: Would this work to upgrade a faux brick fireplace?

I think it would look and work best on a smooth surface.
