General Tools 3/8-Inch Flat Head Plugs #313038, FSC Ethically Sourced Oak, 50 Count (Pack of 1)

These were better than I expected. Drilled 3/8” holes, and was able to easily set and pound these in. In the ~40 pieces I grabbed, I didn’t have one that was damaged, the wrong size, or unusable. I expected a 25% loss rate from the comments, maybe I lucked out.That said, I rarely expect to pound these plugs perfectly flush with my workpiece surface from the beginning (I expect to have to flush cut or sand down), so I can’t give an opinion on whether they’re good for one-and-done plugging. I do know they eventually stopped in the hole, but I actually appreciate that, because then I don’t accidentally jam them too deep (that would suck) and I also don’t have any obvious glue gaps from it not being a tight fit around the lip before it gets stopped by the bottom of the hole. I prefer ones like these that taper from less than 3/8” to more than 3/8”.The color was just fine. Whatever I purchased came as red oak. It didn’t perfectly match the red oak I was using but that is to be expected; each tree is different. Anyway, it was a nice combination that didn’t look off.

Good quality plugs for the cost. Most of the box (48 of 50) were sized close to each other, had no flaws (2 units were not full round plugs, half cuts of no use for plugging screw holes). The colors vary greatly from light to dark as does the grain patterns. These are excellent pugs for decorative effect but are not adequate for a close match for oak boards as there is to much variation in color and grain for that. That being said these are great for plugging holes from countersunk screws on furniture to finish your piece with a nice decorative pattern. Overall a good buy for the money, just not quite a 5 star item (but close).

Fits perfect to fill our wood bee holes on the deck.

I got these to fill in the holes from carpenter bees after treating and getting a trap.Hubs was not happy but used them anyway and I can’t see where the holes were unless I search for several minutes!! These are so much less expensive than other “kits”!Get a trap ($20) and get these!I treated with foaming wasp spray directly into the holes.I don’t want to kill anything but these were destroying our barn!So, I limited my treatment.

I agree with some of the other reviewers who have stated that the corks are slightly smaller than a Carpenter bee hole. So basically I would end up just spraying the hole with the carpenter bee spray and quickly follow by stuffing 1 to 2 corks into the hole. So at the end of the day they do their job just not a tight fit like I would expect.

They fit perfect in a #8 pilot hole.

While good plugs, these are much darker than red oak. Perhaps a different species?

I little bigger than anticipated and I was careful on my sizing, however one solid smack with the dead blow solved that problem LOL smacked right in just make sure your hole is deep enough....
