I appreciate its biodegradable... but what about the large plastic casing?

Can't really recommend this product as for the first few weeks it seems to overdo the froth and colour, producing great gobs of purple goo on each flush. It does nothing to remove any existing limescale and instead stains it purple so the toilet looks worse than ever. After the first few weeks it suddenly stopped working, but a shake of it brought it back to life and oh joy it started staining the loo again. I removed it and threw it away at this point, even though it appeared to have a fair bit of life left. The second one in the pack will never get used.

Are you supposed to remove the small sticker on the top?

Don't remove anything other than the plastic packaging on this item. Take it out of the packaging, open your cistern tank, drop it in. It's as easy as that. A couple of flushes later and the water will be blue(or whichever colour you bought) job done.
