An upgrade to the Tab 4.0. Lacks accessories.
I've been using Samsung Tablets for the past 4 years now. I've had a Tab Note 10.0, 8.0, Tab 3 and now this is my 4th one. I must say, this is my favorite of all. It's slim design and perfect for on the go. I bought it on Friday and had all weekend to mess around with it and here are my conclusions. Pro: It's size is ideal for on the go. The A 7.0 fits in my back pocket and does not feel awkward carrying it in one hand (I have small hands). I've attached a comparison photo between the Tab A 7.0, the Amazon Fire HD 7 (2014 edition) and the Apple iPad Mini 2 with Retina. You can see the size differences between all three. The 7 inch screen is amazing. Although the screen resolution is 1200x800 pixels, the colors are vibrant and does not strain my eyes. The screen ration is 4:3 and looks great watching video's in landscape mode. Also, the new design is an upgrade to the Tab 4.0. Samsung removed all of that chrome which, in my opinion, made it look cheap. The new design is sleek and slim, and I actually like that Samsung placed the USB 2.0 charger at the top (like the Amazon Fire HD series) is a nice change. The Android 5.1 operating system is nice and crisp. Cons: There are a few items that are worth noting, mostly small little things I wish Samsung did not do. Primarily is the 8GB Hard Drive. I wish Samsung created a 16GB version like they did with the Tab 4.0. Yes, you can upgrade the space with a MicroSD card up to 200 GB, but limiting it to only an 8GB HD seems like a step backwards compared to all the other tablets out there. Another issue I have is the screen is really susceptible to smudges and dust. More so than any other tablet that I have. It's a pain to keep wanting to keep it clean, and the very limited accessories that are out there is annoying. Overall, a great buy. It cost me only $141 USD at my local Best Buy (including tax and service fee). A really good upgrade to the Tab 4.0 and one worth keeping. Just PLEASE MAKE MORE accessories for it!

A great tablet for the price
I want a tablet that can replace my computer when I am traveling. I want to be able to do more than just Email, browse the web, and watch movies. I want to be able to create content as well as consume it. This includes simple photo editing and posting blog entries. I also want to be able to navigate where I don't know my way around. This is an amazing device for the price. Thanks in part to advances in Android Apps as well as many portable Bluetooth keyboards, this tablet can do it all. There are some limitations, but they are easy to work around. I purchased the 7" tablet because it fits in my pocket. Many people have written about the low resolution of the screen. My previous 7" tablet had a much higher screen resolution. With a 7" display, I can't see the difference. When reading, I do not notice pixelation of the font. If you want a larger tablet, the screen resolution might be more of a consideration. Navigation is possible, thanks to the new version of Google Maps which allows me to store maps of cities I will visit offline, although you will want a memory card. Unfortunately, the tablet does not include a magnetic sensor, so compass applications won't work. Office 365, Photo Editor, and other content creation programs work fine. Web page loading seems a little slow, especially for pages with a lot of graphic content. The included Samsung file manager can easily copy photos from my camera to the tablet. (My camera does not have wireless capability. I use an OTG USB cable.) The file manager supports *copying* files but not *moving* them. It takes an extra step to remove photos from my camera. The included Gallery program is very good for flipping through pictures and deleting those I don't want. The photo editor that Gallery links to is seriously deficient in features, but MacGyver's Photo Editor works fine. My Bluetooth keyboard, which worked perfectly with my previous tablet, periodically disconnects with this tablet. With stock Android software, one can disable the Bluetooth power-save feature to fix this problem. Samsung's software has a "Power Save" menu, but it doesn't give access to this Bluetooth setting. I don't know whether this is the cause of the disconnections, but it is only a nuisance. The keyboard reconnects itself after a short pause. If the tablet were $300, I would give it 3 stars at most. But for less than half that price, this is a very capable machine. Considering how easily these handy little devices are damaged, price is critical for me. If you are willing to spend more, another tablet might be a better option for you.

Nicest tablet I've owned, but....
okay, so this is a really nice tablet, as I'd expect from Samsung. Screen quality is great, touch-screen responsiveness is quick and yeah, I got the 8gb model, which I don't need a lot of memory, so that's fine. But here's my issue, I got this to connect to Chromecast, that's it, that's all I needed this to do. Don't get me wrong, it works, it connected but just like my old tablet, it says this device is not optimized for this feature. Well, I thought surely it'll be an issue way down the road, but nope, it was an issue much quicker. Basically, it'll be connected just fine but then about 20mins into casting, it'll just shut down. One time, it was showing video but no audio. Another time, it started off fine, but the audio cut off 45mins into a video. Now, understand, that this is just my personal problem and I'm letting you know, don't buy this for use with chromecast. Now, something that is more of a universal problem. I found out the hard way, that it only likes to use the Charger brick that came with the device. I used the same "cord" to plug into another power brick, no charge. Plugged it into my surge protector USB port, and again, no charge. So, don't ever lose the power brick and be sure to take it with the tablet, where ever you may go with it.

Fantastic tablet for the price
I'm a college student that has various tablets and a laptop for her school needs. This tablet has been at the top of my list for a while. Every time this tablet went on sale, a part of me wanted to order it. Samsung tablets were the most frequently suggested tablet for what I wanted and compared the other tablets, the price was reasonable. It was time to stop draining my phone's battery (reading books) and fighting with my sluggish Kindle Fire. The tablet comes with minor bloatware compared to some off-brand tablets. Most of it can be disabled or uninstalled. The device is quick to respond and can be easily tweaked to make the transition animations even smoother. Compared to other tablets I've owned, the battery life is superb. My Kindle Fire doesn't have this kind of battery life. I spent around three hours reading and surfing the web, only to find out that I had used about 25% battery power. There are many settings that can be altered to help extend battery power. Reading a book on my phone drops the battery to around 75% after an hour and a half (sometimes less, if I disable a few things). There is a definite difference between the two. The only drawback with the tablet, as others have pointed out, is the limitation of space. I have room for books and a few convenient apps, but that's about it. Even with an SD card, I am limited as to what I can install on the device. And from what I've noticed with my phone, any apps that are updated in the play store will move from your SD card, back to the internal storage. It's an aggravation but something that happens on many Android devices. Even if you can move some apps to the SD card, things like books through the Google Play Store don't seem to be stored on the SD card. The app can be moved, but not the books (please correct me if I'm wrong. It appeared that they didn't move, only the app). My books take up quite a bit of space! If you want more room, I'd look at some of the more expensive Samsung tablets. So far I'm very impressed by their tablets and will look at their models when making future purchases. Edit 5/3/2018: I've had this tablet for almost one year, and it still impresses me with its battery life. Sometimes I leave it in sleep mode and forget until a few days later when I go to turn it on. I once left it in sleep mode for a week and found the tablet still above 70% power. None of my previous tablets could have done that. It's still my number one tablet. My phone drains faster than this tablet!

3/5 Stars.
I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7inch 8gb. I read some pretty good reviews so I decided to give this a try. Overall, the tablet does its job. The micro SD slot is definitely a plus. I mainly use this tablet for downloading and watching movies. I'm only giving this tablet 3 stars for a couple reasons: -The sound quality is terrible. My Samsung Galaxy a6 edge plus has a better sound output than this tablet. Very disappointed with how the sound is. -The tablet comes with 8gb of memory but the system memory takes up about 3gb to 4 gb. I am only able to download a few apps and a few widgets. The micro SD card is great but I feel like samsung could've done so much more for this tablet. Besides the cons of this device, I will say that it has great visibility. It has an outdoor mode which allows you to view the screen easily when ur outside. The battery life is also really great. On days that I heavily use this tablet, I'm still left with about 40% to 70% battery juice. Overall a decent Tablet. I just don't like how the sound quality is terrible.

Great Tablet!
This is probably the best tablet I have ever owned. Great functionality, very fast and easy to use. Deserves five stars! Perfect for reading books and watching movies. It has a great screen for the price. Very clear answer vibrant - it also has decent storage, though it could be more (I wish it has a little more lol) I love gaming on androids and this tablet has to little storage for bigger games, but is good for social things, Internet browsing and videos. I've only used the camera a couple times, and it seems decent. All in all I feel quite satisfied with my purchase and I love my new tablet!

Tablet & FREE PHONE
Sony & Sharp use to be the BEST RATED electronics (80's, 90's, 00's), but I'm now finding Samsung to be! This tablet is great. I REVIEWED it before purchasing, and love it. // It is CELL PHONE tower enabled, which means you can use the wi-fi on those systems along with regular wi-fi spots. It will work as a phone, with either an app or pre-paid card! // The SCREEN is crisp, clean, and bright - unlike other less expensive brands. It has a clean, sleek design, but still a tad bit too large to fit in a pocket; maybe a deep, field coat type pocket! It has an SD CARD slot as well. I'd PURCHASE again!

Samsung Galaxy Tab-A SM-T280
La compré para que mi esposa pueda leer documentos PDF y el rendimiento de la batería es muy bueno y su resolución de pantalla te permite ver videos y textos en muy buena calidad, que sí bien no es de. Alta definición, si cuenta con un buen Frame Rate.

Excelente tablet escolar
Excelente, buen precio y buena calidad. Se la compré a mi sobrino porque le pidieron una tablet en su escuela y le ha sido de mucha ayuda. Ocasionalmente la percibo un poco lenta pero estoy satisfecho
