The cat who had been stressed about the box now only goes in to do her business, except when she actually races over to watch with fascination whenever I rake the crystals. I was truly blown away by how well it works--it really does absorb ALL liquid and urine odors. The only odors arise immediately after the cats poop, but all moisture from that is quickly absorbed as well, so the odor is less intense than it used to be. I still use the litter genie for convenience, but I could honestly get rid of it and scoop the poops directly into the toilet. Lingering odors are GONE. I use Precious Cat clumping litter now.** A: I really like this litter. The crystals do not clump. They absorb moisture and liquid. When the cat urinates the urine is absorbed by the crystals. For the feces, the crystals absorb any moisture that is in the feces so that when you go to scoop it out it seems dry. What I really like is that you don't have to change this litter until all the white crystals seem to appear yellow. I also added a little at a time as I saw the need. My breeder recommended this litter when I got my two Abyssinian kittens last year. She said she only changes the litter if she sees moisture in the bottom of the pan or it looks too yellow. My cats didn't seem to have any problems with this litter......and there is little to no dust unlike clay litter. As for clay litters, I find Arm & Hammer the best as far as the least amount of dust. **Q: what is the weight ?** A: Sorry I can't answer this. I order this through a cat sanctuary's Amazon wish list and it is shipped directly to them. I never see it. **Q: How does this compare to the Clay litter from the company? We have Short Hairs and were just wondering if this is better?** A: Its apples and oranges. This crystal litter is the best of crystal litters, for my needs. We loved Pretty Litter but the shipping took an entire week. Since it went from zero to horribly smelly in a day, a week is too long to wait. This one is my favorite alternatives so far. My cats are both domestic shorthair but I was looking for something that wouldn't track everywhere. It controls odor well, is unscented, doesn't seem to track all over the floor and comes in a recyclable container. Unscented is actually nice - we tried the Fresh Steps crystals which did a poor job of controlling odor. So it just smelled like perfume and cat pee. Don't really care much about the packaging but I was happy I could recycle it. What I didn't like was that it lasted a week and half before I started noticing it wasn't absorbing urine as well. Not terribly smelly but noticeable. The packaging claims that one container will last one cat two months. I have two cats so I was hoping this would last at least two and a half weeks before it needed changing. Overall, not a bad cat litter. Maybe our male cat just pees a lot?
