Seachem has three products, the acid buffer, alkaline buffer, and neutral regulator. Neutral regulator is phosphate based so be careful using in planted tank. However, if that is not a concern than neutral regulator is probably more what you are looking for to keep pH at 7.0. There are very specific instructions as to how to use all three to get the desired pH for what your fish prefers. It also depends on the hardness of your water. I use acid buffer to maintain pH below 7.0 as that is what my shrimp prefers. That being said, however you adjust it, do it slowly. Fish don’t do well with big swings. **Q: What kind of acid is the ingredient? Is it citric acid?** A: No! It is a sulphate salt that will not increase the phosphates in your planted aquarium. It is less stable meaning that has a shorter life in contrast to the phosphate salts but it helps you reach the lower pH with no problems. Remember to do pH changes gradually to avoid stressing (killing) your fish. It is excellent for planted aquariums. **Q: My local tap water is above 8.4ph according to my tests. How would I properly use this product for water changes and the intial treatment of my tank?** A: Pour a measured amount, ie 1 gallon in a pitcher and add a teaspoon of acid buffer, mix and measure pH.
