This Lip Plumping Kit by MAËLYS comes packaged so nicely, perfect for gift giving. I have been enjoying it for about a month now, and to be completely honest, I am still confused about it. The first step, Flirt, is supposed to be a lip scrub. It actually says that--"Lip Scrub"--on the small jar...but there's absolutely no "scrub" about it. There are no grains, no grittiness, nothing to scrub my lips at all. That said, I love it! Maybe it's a chemical, rather than physical, exfoliation that is supposed to be going on, but I don't really notice that, either. But I love how this stuff moisturizes my dry, thirsty lips. I use every night before bed, sometimes with the second step, the Lip Puff, and sometimes without. That second part, by the way, does cause a slight tingly stinging, but isn't too painful. For me, I could take or leave the second step, but I really like the first one.All MAËLYS products are cruelty-free, which I love. But my experiences with their products have been so hit and miss...it's frustrating. I don't understand why their lip "scrub" doesn't scrub, and there's no explanation from them as to WHY. And that just isn't acceptable from something in this price range. When I ordered this set, the price was just under fifty bucks. This stuff costs way too much to be confused about it. Scrub or not, I will continue to use these products until they are gone, but I won't repurchase these.I hope my experience with this product might help YOU make a more informed purchase. Maelys Flirt Lip Scrub and Lip Puff aren’t what I expected. The “scrub” is totally smooth with no sugar grains at all. I dug down to the bottom and they just aren’t there. It’s basically a petrolatum based lip product in a pot that feels cooling like menthol or camphor and leaves a little bit of a sweet residue, but there are no scrubbing granules.The Lip Puff is the plumper in the tube and it glides on smoothly. It immediately made my lips sting and swell. I suppose that’s the objective of the product, so it’s somewhat effective. But the problem for me is that it actually gave me tiny blisters all over my lips that were quite painful. I suppose it might work as a plumper for someone with less sensitive skin.The last photo on the page is a diagram that mixes up which ingredients are in each product. It connects 100% Natural Sugar (to remove dead skin cells) and coconut oil by lines to the Lip Puff, but those ingredients are listed under the Lip Scrub. Hydroproxline is connected to the Lip Scrub, but it’s listed as an ingredient in the Lip Puff.It’s odd as it gives me the impression that even the company doesn’t know what’s in its own products, plus a key component of the sugar scrub (the sugar granules) was missing and it isn’t even an exfoliation product (unless blistering and peeling counts). The Lip Puff kind of worked in that my lips swelled, but my lips blistered and are peeling, painful and still have blisters days later. This duo is a disappointment. 2 stars.

I went through a phase where I had terribly dry lips so I ordered a ton of lip repair kits trying to help. When I came across this one, it was sort of like, yeah it's for plumping and not for moisture but what the heck? Throw it on there. Strangely, this ended up being my favorite of the lip kits - because it does a good job of making my lips feel soft and hydrated - but it did end up kind of disappointing me in the actual lip plumping arena.The lip scrub, I can only assume, is meant to be used with an exfoliator, because there wasn't any actual scrubbing exfoliant material in mine. This is fine; I just used an exfoliating facial scrubber. The plumping gloss is great at first; it really does cause inflammation (which you want for your lips) where applied so be cautioius with the applicator. But the effect doesn't last long - I'd say within 30 minutes there's nothing left of what your previously plump lips. Mine did feel nicely hydrated though and that actually did last a couple of days. I'll probably use this straight for a week every night and see if I can get some nice lasting hydration out of it.For me the plumping effect was a bonus, but if you're buying this kit for the plumping you may be a bit disappointed. However of the lip kits I ordered, it should be known this one was still one of the most affordable, with the fewest steps, left my lips feeling the best overall, and has enough to last several applications. I'm happy with this product overall but still think as far as the plumping goes, it's great for a photo effect but you'll need to keep reapplying that gloss if you want it to last more than about a half an hour.
