Q: Will it fit on a 2005 toyota rav4?

It fit well on my 1997 RAV 4 spare tire. If your RAV 4 has a spare tire cover over the tire on the tailgate you would have to remove the cover since the post holding the bike rack comes out thru the mounting hole in the spare tire. I use my carrier 4 times a week and it works quite well....very happy with it.

Q: Will it fit on 2023 Defender?

Fits spare tires up to 7-11/16" to 12.5" wide.... So long as your spare is in that range, you should be OK. Also.... if you have a spare tire cover, you'll need to remove it or put a hole in it.

Q: Is it possible for someone to steal the rack without removing the spare tire?

A thief would need to remove the tire to get the rack off. I put a wheel lock lug nut on the tire and then put the rack so it futher blocks access to that wheel lock lug nut. Stealing it will be more work than its worth.

The carrier bolts to the spare rim and should fit any wheel.
