I use high quality pellets that help with a better smokey flavor but this smoke generator takes it to a new level of smokiness. Not the bitter smoke flavor from a smoking tube but that of a clean smoke from unprocessed wood. It is a well build product. Easy to install and use (once you figure out how to properly start it up). Basic clean-up is quick. It needs a deeper cleaning after 3-4 long cooks. I love that most of it is made in the United States of America. Unfortunately some of the smaller parts like the bottom cap for example are made in China. After a little trial and error and online videos I learned when you want to pair this generator with a pellet smoker just run it for 30 - 45 minutes before you start to get clean smoke. I just started the smoke generator first then pre-heating my smoker. One more tip. Instructions say you should check the wood chips / chunks every 2 to 2 1/2 hours. But at the beginning of a smoke check it after an hour. Sometimes it burns through a lot of wood at the very beginning as it settles in.
