I Love My Granny

Fairly relatable book for granny
My family and I have lots of board books for our 12 month old and I particularly like ones that highlight important relationships in their lives. This book has sweet examples of how a grandparent is likely to spend time with their grandchild and for us is fairly relatable. With that being said, out of all the books we have this is the one I find the hardest to read. The grammar feels off, there are three pages where the word “just” is used which is likely for emphasis. However, I don’t feel it adds anything and it is definitely over used with negative connotations, particularly on the page regarding mum not having enough time… for…?My main bone of contention is the last three pages “… my granny gives a little sigh… it’s nice to give me back to mum”, there’s several things I don’t like about this dialogue, however mostly it’s the context therefore I made a few edits which I will acknowledge as and when our wee one notices.I must note I haven’t read the mummy or daddy version of this book which I believe are the initial award winning books of this series so my guess is that they are more user friendly.I still like this book despite the above complaints!

A bit insulting esp to mums?
I wanted this as a gift for my sons gran but im a bit offended that it has a line unlike my mum my gran has lots of time! What? Not sure we should be saying that someones mum doesn't have time for them?! Its mildly insulting to grans as well...maybe meant to be comical but not a great message for wee ones

Beautiful gift idea for Granny
Bought for a gift for my Mum from her granddaughter. Both parties love reading the book and have done over and over again. Beautiful gift idea with a nice story.

I wish that Granny was Nanny/Nan
Bought as a Mother’s Day present for my son’s Nan who looks after him once a week. I like this book and am sure his Nan will too. It talks about the various things a boy and his Nan do together - talk, play, watch telly, go out and about and many more things.
