I have been a sewing enthusiast for a while now, and this sewing machine was the least expensive option I could find. I tried making some little things here and there and I got frustrated at first. The instructions say specifically to thread it correctly or it could break. This machine is mainly plastic, and seems a bit flimsy, but after realizing that sometimes the thread would get stuck, I also realized it would get fix by gently rolling the wheel on the right side.I was able to make this dress for my daughters birthday with this machine, so it definitely works; it just requires a learning curve. It was difficult to work with the satin in the dress, but I fixed it by ironing.Is it like a Brother or singer machine? No. But it would work for simple things. I hope this helps you decide.

If I could give it zero stars,I would !Bought this item in November as a Christmas present.My daughter used it twice , right after she opened it. Then placed it away until July when she decided to use it again. Except, this time, the pedal wouldn’t work.We tried to turn it on and off. We checked the wires in the pedal. I plugged and unplugged. When I plugged again, the machine started moving all by itself without the pedal being pressed for around six seconds, then everything stopped again. I reached out to the manufacturer twice . They said they only back their product for 60 days and told me to reach out to Amazon instead. I called Amazon and they said they only provide returns and refunds for 30 days. So bottom line is after two uses this item is ready to go in the trash because nobody is willing to help me fix it.I wasn’t even asking for a return. I was just asking the manufacturer to tell me how to fix it.Do not buy , unless it’s meant for decor.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well this machine works. I learned how to sew on one of the fancier Brother machines, so my expectations were low for this cheaper off brand machine. But I was looking for something for simple beginner projects at a much lower price point, and I’m very happy with this product. The thread colors that came in my kit are different from what’s pictured, but it’s not a huge deal. They did a good job including spools and bobbins with nearly matching colors. I LOVE the compact size and how portable it is. I’ve only used it on battery power and I finished an entire project with it. It even handled sewing through like 6 layers of cotton fabric. It wasn’t happy about it, but it got through it beautifully.Some quirks: The bobbin is a bit tricky to thread up through the machine, and the instructions neglect to tell you that you need to lower the foot. It’s shown in the image in the manual, but it’s not an obvious step. You’ll also likely need to spin the hand knob on the right side of the machine a few times to get the bobbin thread to come up through the machine (the manual makes it seem like it happens on the first turn). Additionally, the arrow is pointing the wrong way in the manual when it says “turn counterclockwise”. Turn it actually counterclockwise (towards you) to get it to work. Once I figured that out, I swap out thread and bobbins like a pro. Because the machine is compact, it is a bit tricky to thread the top spool down and through the needle - I have small fingers so I’m able to manage it, but for people with larger fingers or who aren’t as dexterous, a compact machine will likely lead to a lot of frustration. I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because my top thread keeps coming unthreaded from the needle when I start a new stitch, and I don’t think it’s user error. I pretty much set it up the same time every time before I get started, and sometimes it sews no problem and sometimes I end up with the top thread waving around in my face because it came undone. I’ve also noticed sometimes when starting a stitch, the needle will halt and make a slight grinding sound, and it appears like the machine has jammed. To fix this, I turn the hand wheel on the side to do one or two manual stitched, and then it’s able to operate normally from there with the foot pedal. Not sure what causes that but I can work around it.

Its a great machine. I'm currently helping people learn how to sew, but since I don't know how to sew, I had to learn myself in the process. Setup was less than 15 minutes with the help of online tutorials. All the supplies are present and you don't need anything extra except a working outlet. (Oh wait! You don't even need an outlet if you have batteries. I heard the discussion boards say that the battery setup is fine, but a little less powerful, so be careful). This is an extremely portable device. I can see many people using this as their primary sewing machine because it is diverse enough to perform basic tasks. If you are sewing anything larger and thicker than Summer/Fall type clothes, you might run into some power and needle issues; otherwise I can see myself doing the small basic stuff just fine.I enjoyed it so much, I had to buy two more sewing machines; as gifts for the other folks I'm helping to learn. The cost and what you get out of the box is perfect for beginners to get all the supplies and start sewing.

So we got this about 4 months ago for a christmas present. My daughter has used it a lot and im giving it 3 stars because she spends more time threading it than sewing with it. Other than that it works decent and is an ok starter if you want a machine but dont want to invest a lot of money
