Q: How close to the wall can the brackets hold a rod? Range?

I would have to borrow a ladder to measure range, since mine are up high, but I'll say this. They can go closer to the wall than any other brackets of this type that I am aware of. Roughly speaking, these brackets can go about 0.5" from the wall, to 1.25". I bought them to get a rod as close to the wall as I could, in an effort to reduce light in the room when curtains and closed. Hope this helps.

Q: Does this product come with the screws needed to install it?

hi it does not come with the screws to attach to the wall just the ones that attach to the rod itself or tensions. it really does depend what kind of wall you're attaching these into as to what screws you will need to buy for example a sinner wall may need an anchoring screw and a wall with a stud can just be a regular wood screw. I hope that helps!

Q: How wide is each bracket? I need to fit them between the window frame and an adjacent wall.

With the plastic cover 2.4cm almost an inch. Without the plastic cover 2.2cm.

Q: To install above doorjam, could I flip slotted L bracket upside down and attach "hooks" to backside of slot (tho not ideal given lateral play)?

That is what the pictures shows.please see the picture on the box. The L bracket is flipped and attached hooks.I will add the picture in my listing .Please see. BETYDLIG picture with the original box.
