Why does it not list where this company is based? if it's china, it should say.

It’s China. It’s not worth the money. Very weak bell, not loud at all

Yes, it does. Not horribly loud, but after 24 hours, my husband didn't remind. We'll use it for power out situations because I like things silent.

Does it tick yes or no and is it loud? 2 answers one said yes other said no

When it works, it ticks, and it isn’t very loud. Unfortunately, it keeps lousy time and will just stop even though it’s wound. It’s a pretty little thing (quite tiny), but as a reliable timepiece, a bowlful of fruit would work just as well.

what is the frowny slot for on the back?

If the time is error, you could make it correct by the adjust-needle at the back. If the time is fast, you could adjust the (-). If the time is slow, you could adjust (+). Each gradation is about 6 mins.
