The SMH-1000 is similar enough to the Sony 7506 I figured I'd give it a try. The headband protector went on like a glove. It was a little bunchy at first, but after tugging it into place and centering up the zipper it fit perfectly. Nice and comfy and no more flaking headband coming off in my hair. I'm pleased as punch.

Fits like a glove

Perfect fit for ATH-M50x
As can be seen from the photo, it's a perfect fit for a new pair of M50x. The fact that the fabric was designed with some curvature and not a rectangle as other headbands, helps to a more aesthetic look. Installation was very easy. The zipper is ok. It's not going to be zipped\unzipped daily, so hopefully it'll hold.

Perfect fit but zipper could be more snug
Bought this after my 6 year old MDR-V6 headband finally started flaking and peeling. It came in a small sealed plastic bag - minimal but appropriate packaging. Went on easily and is cut perfectly. It fits completely over the old headband and stops exactly where the joints begin. It fits nicely enough to not slide around but I do think it could have been made a little more snug so it wouldn't bunch up. Right now it does bunch up slightly along the zipper which aesthetically breaks the silhouette of the headphones just a bit. Material feels like neoprene (wetsuit) and zipper feels like plastic. Ultimately only the one very minor complaint for how simple of a solution this is and how comfortable it feels.
