Q: Is this just beneficial bacteria in a gel form? i was also going to use a liquid beneficial bacteria with this. or are they both the same thing?

I think that because it’s in a gel form, it helps with the initial reseeding/startup of the pond Adheres to the pads to reseed it quickly. I do a clean out in the spring and use this on the pads in the biological filter. The rest of the months, I use the liquid.

Q: Is it recommended to use the filter pad bacteria in conjunction with Mocrobe lift PL?

Yes, it does seem to help in my experience, especially when you have either a dirty pond or too many fish for the filter. IN addition, anytime you are changing the water it is a good idea to add the gel to the filter media too. It starts the bacteria in the pond much faster.

Q: How many gallons does it treat?

This is a gel that you put on some or all of your filter pads depending upon the filter system that you have. I don't think there is any amount/gallon ratio to use. It's applied when you have a large water change or you rinse off your filter media. The chlorine in the water kills the good bacteria and this is a way to replace that without it having to build up naturally. Personally, I just squirt some on at least one of the filter media in with section of the filter but I have a 4 part tank.
