The packaging was subpar for a wood ornament worth $70. The wood feels rough and hollow. The fabric on the bottom was thin and not fully attached. There was a random hole on the back of the top plate. And a disgraceful amount of glue was used to attach the stem to the top plate. I believe you get what you pay for, but this is an exception. Thank you Amazon for hassle free returns. I wont be keeping this thing long enough to even see how my pocket watch would look on it. I kind of feel scammed. I really do, I have a serious amount of buyer's remorse.

I ordered this to place an antique looking compass on. Overall, I'm liking the workmanship that I'm seeing. Yet for my specific usage, there is one slight problem. (Not a deal-breaker problem though.) The slope of the holder-plate is a bit too steep for my liking. I want to have the lid of the compass open, so as to show the detailed inner workings of the compass. This though puts the balance of the compass a bit too far forwards, and the compass has a tendency to tip off the stand. Lessening that slope would solve that problem, and also make the important inner workings more visible.Otherwise, it's very nicely done, showing good craftsmanship skills.
