Really the best OTC for cold sores
I've used Abreva for a number of years. No other OTC medication is remotely as effective. I find it as good or better than prescription cremes. I can apply Abreva at the first inkling of a "tickle" in my lip, and the cold sore never appears. I use it prophylactically when spending time in the sun, combined with good sunscreen this stops cold sores from happening. If I fail to catch a sore forming, Abreva shortens the duration of a sore to one or two days and helps accelerate healing.
