How to cook for hobbits!
This is a physically lovely book that features food that hobbits would love, properly divided into their 7 meals of the day! (There is also an index in the back.)Besides the recipes- all photographed, it has photographs of Shire-like places, pictures of the "source materials" and the story about how they were found, and lovely botanical illustrations. The recipes themselves are based on British home cooking and look delicious- and mostly pretty easy. An exception is the brewing recipes, which require equipment and knowledge of basic brewing of beer and/or mead... but which look very intriguing! Brewing supply vendors ought to be able to supply some of the less-common ingredients for some other recipes, too, like the dried elderflowers. All told, there are maybe 50 recipes here, and I am including the separate recipes for, say, piecrust and pie filling, dumplings to accompany the stew, etc. That's not a lot for a book that costs what this one does, but they are all enticing- and the book itself is lovely! The notes say the recipes are based on historical ones from the 1890s in rural England.Recommended for cooks who are LotR fans, or interested in fairly accessible historic recipes.

Absolutely Wonderful!!
My daughter and I made the Seed Cake, Mushrooms on Toast and Roasted Potatoes. It was all unbelievably yummy! The potatoes were fantastic. I cook all the time and have made roasted potatoes often. These were exceptional! I highly recommend this cookbook. I’ll be trying everything in it!

So cute!
I absolutely LOVE this book. My mom, dad & I are die hard Hobbit & LOTR fans. I ordered it for my mom's birthday & after I opened it, I immediately ordered one for myself. It may sound weird, but the texture of the texture of the paper is amazing. So smooth, but still matte for easy reading. It just feels like a book you'll keep forever. All of the recipes sound so delicious & I cannot wait to try them! If anything were wrong upon arrival, I'm sure the seller would take care of it. Things happen, printers mess up & they probably don't have time to check each & every single page. So happy I got this!

Hobbit Day!
I planned my husband's birthday as Hobbit Day. Most of the gift was all the wonderful meals :). This book was incredibly helpful in making the day a successful. The recipes are authentic and don't use new world spices and produce. I made several of the recipes and they were all delicious. My husband still raves about Hobbit Day on a regular basis and it's been two months since it happened. We even got a copy for each of my siblings because we thought they'd enjoy the recipes, too, and they are all excited to try them out. Highly recommend!

I love this cookbook!
Okay, I love this book! I love how it was written as if someone found a hobbit's recipe box. I love how it's broken up into the traditional hobbit meals: breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, and so on.It is well written, the instructions are easy to follow, and that is coming from a real novice in the kitchen!I've tried several recipes and all have turned our perfectly as the book describes. If you love cooking, love eating like a hobbit and love the world that Professor Tolkien created, you need this book.

Brochure Paper
Neat concept and content, but I was surprised by the quality of the binding. For $17, this is way overpriced, as it is printed on brochure paper and was very bent beyond repair when I received it.
