POWERTEC 70148 Dust Control Flex Cuff with Steel Clamps, 2-1/2-Inch

I constructed my dust collection system using a Grizzly dust collector and a Super Dust Deputy Cyclone, opting for 6" Schedule 40 PVC pipes as the main conduits, along with joints and Y-connectors. For connections to the machines, I used short lengths of 6" flexible hose. I also acquired aluminum blast gates from Lee Valley and a few others from different sources but faced a challenge connecting these 6" blast gates to the PVC pipes. Given the outer diameter (OD) of Schedule 40 pipes is 6.625 inches and the inner diameter (ID) averages at 6.031 inches, a direct connection was not possible without an additional coupler.After spending a few days searching for an appropriate ID sleeve in both physical supply stores and online without success, I stumbled upon a solution. I found a coupler typically used for wood stoves that matched perfectly with the 6" specification, snugly fitting into the Schedule 40 pipe. This coupler served as a bridge between the pipe and the blast gate. To ensure an airtight seal, I planned to apply a bit of caulk on the Schedule 40 side and secure it further with a couple of pop rivets to prevent it from loosening over time.The coupler, a 6-in x 6-in Black Steel Stove Pipe Union by IMPERIAL, model #BM0368, item #37273, was found at a well-known home improvement store. The entire process of drilling holes for the rivets and applying caulk took less than five minutes.Encouraged by the ease of installation, I went ahead and bought five more of these couplers and the necessary accessories from the same store for my project.

Easy to use and feels very sturdy. Clamps worked well with no issues. The rubber holds well and prevents slipping when tightened properly.

I purchased this rubber pipe coupler to support my 2 1/2 inch dust collection system. This coupler’s inner diameter measures a little bit bigger than 2 1/2 inches. As a result, it fits very easily over my 2 1/2 inch exterior diameter pipe and couplers.The pipe clamps that come with the coupler cinch down very easily and buttoned up my dust collection system perfectly. It was just what I needed.I recommend the use of this 2 1/2 inch rubber coupler for your desk collection system as well.
