The premises was enough to hook me and keep me flipping through the pages. I couldn’t wait to see how it ended and to see how the guys handled each of the seven targets. It was a truly inspired plot line that I haven’t seen in so long. The revenge plot mixed in with second chance love and touch her and die from all five of the guys was amazing. The character development for the FMC as well as two of the love interests (Oscar and Callum) was exactly what you wanted. I liked seeing the glimpses into the past from when Bernadette was tortured by the boys from everyone’s POV. It was handled very well throughout the story in giving you tastes enough to leave you wanting, but not so frustrated that you deemed it not worthy. Oscar had the most development in my opinion as he took the longest to crack. Callum’s backstory was the most heartbreaking and I loved delving into his life to get inside his head. There are five love interests so you get each personality. It’s nice having each boy be so distinct that you truly do feel like they create one cohesive unit. Every guy has a role to fill and you aren’t left wanting in the romance department.Cons:The story is way too drug out. This did not need to be five books long. It could have easily been a trilogy and one entire book could be scrapped if she would have cut out all the filler sections. The pacing of the book was wildly inconsistent. You would have moments filled with action that seemed to be over too fast, moments that were just right… fast enough that it wasn’t dragging but slow enough that you felt like you had enough time to absorb everything, and moments that were so slow I felt myself falling asleep. Why did we need multiple shopping montages? Only two of them actually added anything to the story and it just was a waste of my brain space. The premise of the book was also drug out. There were numerous moments when they could have solved a problem but came up with some BS excuse to not do so. It was just a way to keep the book going instead of doing what they were quite literally hired to do. Not to mention issues popped up at the “perfect” time just to stretch it out even longer.Unnecessary repetitive descriptions of the guys as well as repeating that they were “broken monsters.” I can’t tell you how many times she describes the guys looks throughout the books. I wish I knew just how many times the word “ebon” was used cause it has to be up in the 300s. We established how they look in books one and two, you don’t need to keep telling us in book five. Not to mention, you clearly explain and SHOW that the men are broken and were turned into “monsters” due to their life experience, why are we still talking about it in book five?Too much Spice. I don’t mind spice in my books, but honestly why was there s** just for s** sake? It added nothing to the plot. I’m sure that if you cut about 20 s** scenes there would still be enough to fill one book on its own with nothing but smut. I like s** sprinkled in with my books, not the entire book. It was repetitive and honestly exhausting. I skipped so many scenes, it wasn’t funny. What is the infatuation with women and high school girls to slut shame each other? Why do we still call each other sl** and wh*** and bit***, then get mad when men do it. Do y’all not understand that by doing this to each other you are giving men permission to do it too? Can we please just stop with this childish and stupid behavior. I don’t care if it’s a high school book, the amount of dialogue that was shaming other girls was so draining. I rolled my eyes so hard they hurt.Consensus:It’s okay. That’s it, it’s okay. If you don’t mind potentially skimming by the end just to get to the resolution then this book series might be for you. It was so gripping up till book four but at that point I was so invested I had to know how it ended. Do I hate I read it? No. Will I recommend it? No. But just because it’s not for me, doesn’t mean it won’t be for you. Such a strong start to a disappointing resolution. Don’t get me wrong, they get a HEA, but the ending doesn’t overwrite the issue filled journey.

One of the best RH high school bully series available
⚠️Spoilers Ahead....Despite a major plot issue, this installment of the Prescott High Havoc series is another win for the writer. The Havoc Boys/Prescott High series is one of the best RH high school bully book series available today. The effort & thought that goes into creating the characters for this series is exceptional & the author gets very high marks for creating such depth in all of her characters.⚠️Spoiler Comment!! Read no further unless you’ve read the series...⚠️One caveat for me with this book was the idea of how it benefits HAVOC for Vic to “annul” his marriage to Bernie & marry his mother’s choice, Trinity Jade. Trinity Jade’s relative is supposedly a judge who can transact a quick annulment for Vic & Bernie to enable Vic to marry Trinity. This is explained that Vic’s inheritance will then be halved & Trinity Jade will use funds to infuse her family with cash & also fund Ophelia..Vic’s mother. THIS MAKES NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. A judge on the pad can also declare Vic incompetent & institutionalize him, thereby giving his “wife” complete control of finances. So...the plot device seems ridiculous in the manner it’s used as an excuse to “protect Bernie from harm.” The entire point of Vic’s insistence on marrying Bernie was to secure his inheritance. There would be zero upside to an annulment which then forces him to marry someone under his mother’s influence and potentially opens him to a legal proceeding that could have him locked into a mental institution or fighting for his money in court with a hostile spouse. This just doesn’t track. Even if Vic never had the intent to go through with the annulment, the damage the plot device has to the Vic & Bernie storyline...for me is a bust. I wouldn’t tolerate that thought process on the premise that it was only a gambit to “keep me safe.” Dividing forces is never safe. I’ll be curious to see how this pans out in the final installment, but my mind wondered to Bernie taking Heather and leaving the area once this plot line evolved into the “annulment” plan. There is no way to come back from that in my mind & none of the other Havoc boys really seemed to understand the severity of the choice to allow Vic to humor his mother in that regard. Once Bernie had to entertain the idea that her “marriage” would be annulled and made the case to herself that she “didn’t care about marriage anyway,” I felt all the hell she was put through to become a Havoc girl was severely undermined. No, I’m not a huge fan of marriage & I don’t have this opinion for religious reasons. I have this opinion because the plot device undermines Bernie’s position in Havoc, her emancipation, and her tenuous “guardianship” of Heather. Losing her legal marital status would be detrimental not only to Vic & his big drive to claim his inheritance, but mostly for Bernie as an underage girl who’s trying to keep her sister, Heather safe. This wasn’t thought through in a way that makes sense to me.I’m sure the series as a whole won’t suffer for it but for me, the Vic/Bernie “love story” is now marred to the point that I don’t see a way to bridge the chasm. Once Vic entertained humoring his mother, his appeal was gone for me. There are other ways to gather intelligence without compromising Bernie’s safety or the safety of her sister.

No politics, please...
Love the series, but could do without the not-so-subtle political opinions. I found it annoying to have it pushed on me in a romance novel. Other than that, I really enjoy this author! I remain interested and am still excited to read book 5.

The home stretch
Look it's getting good. I like the fact that Bernadette still even though she's a little cray cray and definitely f***** u* she's maintaining like a little symptoms of innocence and her and she's not really able to kill her used to be best friend I think that's a very interesting thing to see from her. Like even though she's living in her best darkness there's still some light in that tunnel. This book has been a wild leg Topsy turvy turns everywhere. An now we're going onto the final book to see what ending I'm going to get.

Anarchy in Springfield
I feel like I have to address things again...I don't understand leaving 1 star reviews because of a book release delay. To claim that you enjoy the series and the writing, but then 1 star it because of delays? Now - I'm not going to argue that delays are not disappointing. They are. Especially when you're invested in the story. If you don't like delays, or the possibility of series not being completed, then don't read them until they are finished. I'd love to read more of CM's work...but I won't read uncompleted series. So I just won't. Yes, I find that sad, because I've loved all but 1 of her books that I've read. But I won't unjustly mark down a book because I'm annoyed over a release date. And if you think CM is bad...try this one. Outlander is a 10 book series. Outlander came out in 1991. Almost 30 years later, only 8 books have been released. The latest book came out in 2014. So I'll leave you with this...nobody owes you anything. An author does not owe you books. Now that's out of the way...Like Mayhem, Anarchy was a little slower at first than the first 2. We get to learn more about the guys, Bernie's personal growth is growing by leaps and bounds, and the bonds formed between her and her boys is cementing. Although this could perhaps have been wrapped up a little quicker. While some things dragged on a little, some things were skipped over entirely, that I would have loved to have seen. Havoc's first Christmas together - although briefly mentioned (and teased with ideas of thoughtful gifts from the boys) was completely skipped. What were the thoughtful gifts? Also - when 3 certain people were sent away - again, completely skipped over. Both those scenes could have added a lot of emotional depth to the story. On the other hand...New forces are coming into play, the threats are becoming more serious and the anxiety is ramping up. The last 2/3 of the book I was firmly glued to my chair, unable to put the book down. Had to wait for my heart rate to calm down before reviewing 😆Can't wait to start Victory to see how it all ends! 🖤

OK...
OK I stand by what I said about this series being three books. I feel like it would have been better to want more than to skim pages because I'm loosing interested. Which is what I was doing and its unlike me.However...I do very much like the character development, especially of Oscar and Cal. Those two characters have me in love with them and they had to be the weird ones of the bunch right. I'm hard core for the outsider I must admit.Book four continues on the path of war and righting the wrongs of the past whilst trying to figure out what HAVOV are together. I did enjoy the relationship dynamics and the teasing, banter and bickering. The tension as per is crazy and their is the element of suspense which is nice and definitely sets the pace for the story.Book four hit better than book three for me and I'm holding out hope that book 5 will right my feelings and leave me satisfied with the conclusion!!.

These books are my addiction
Waiting for this book I felt like a kid counting down to Christmas. These books are truly brilliant. The characters all bring a little something extra to a huge plot.Hael, Aaron, Victor, Oscar and Callum - each have different personalities, styles, backgrounds but everyone of them has one commonality. Bernadette Blackbird. Together they have created a bond. They’re stronger than brothers and Bernie is the glue.Bernadette has grown from being on the outside to being the centre of the guys universe, right where she, The Queen of Havoc, deserves to be.This book will have you hot and bothered, It’s going to pull on your heart strings and twist you up inside, And then it’s going to leave you on a cliffhanger desperate for more. This book has so many heart stopping moments, plot twists and times where you heart is in your mouth. I cannot wait to see what happens in the final book. I need to know that every letter of the acronym is happy, healthy and safe. I need Bernadette to have her Havoc ever after. As much as I hoped this story line never had to end the additional 2 books have been mind blowing. CM Stunich has shown us once again that she is Queen of this genre. The highs and lows of this series perfect. One click this. Pre order book 5. It’ll be worth it, I have no doubt.

Anarchy
Finally we get the showdown we've been waiting for between Bernie and Kali, and I couldn't be more thrilled by it. This book also did an amazing job of showing the effects of PTSD, which was missing in the earlier books. Previous actions are quickly catching up on HAVOC, and the consequences are equally terrifying and thrilling.I did get very frustrated anytime Trinity was in a scene in this book. I really hate 'other-woman' drama and it didn't feel necessary to the plot a lot of the time. But I'm hoping her character shows her purpose in the final book.I will also say that at times, parts of the plot feel too over-the-top to be truly believable. The series seems to be trying so hard to be relatably grounded in reality, but then it hits these extremes that don't quite fit as well. But at the same time, I found this book incredibly entertaining! And that's what I want from this series. Bring on Victory!
