We ordered this to replace our terrible traditional (and very expensive) spring mattress that was only 3 years old and already worn out! It came in 48hrs and was ready to sleep on within a few hours of opening it. There was no overpowering smell like some other foam products, which was awesome since once you open it, you are committed! We've had it 3 weeks and have loved every night's sleep! It's a little more firm than I like but that was quickly remedied by adding our 1 inch foam topper to it that we had on our previous mattress. My husband loved it before and is still fine with the topper on it.Over all, great bed for a great price!

very comfortable matress.
Very comfortable mattress. However, some people will find that it's too firm for them. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to sleep on a firm mattress. The memory foam will perfectly adjust to the pressure points of your body. That being said, be warned that the matress is very heavy compared to non memory foam mattresses.

A mattress worth loving
This is a great mattress. You can put a glass of wine on it and let your kids or your mother in law jump around on it. There is very little transfer of movement with this type of foam. Sleeping on it is hard to define - I don't seem to be able to stay awake enough to make a thorough analysis, plus when I wake up, my back does not hurt at all! No complaints. It comes well vacuum-packaged, rolled and sucked onto a cardboard mailing tube. Once you release the tape, it reverts to it's intended shape. No odor, just comfort! Get one!

Not my first foray into foam.....
I know many of these reviews touch on many topics, not all of which I believe are relative to the actual product. So lets get these out of the way. Yes the mattress comes in a box. It's folded up, vacuum packed and wrapped in a band. The box a bit larger than a mini fridge. It weighs around 90 pounds. The foam does have a smell. Depending on how sensitive you are to it will depend on how you rate the product. It is just the smell of new foam. It will dissipate, how fast depends on room temp, ventilation and other environmental factors. So now that I have the simple, mostly unimportant things covered, I will give you some background. My ex-wife insisted on spending 2500$ on a Tempur-pedic mattress when we were together 3 years ago or so. I was NOT happy about the cost, especially when there were many lower priced products on the market similar to this mattress. So I slept on a Tempur brand for a year or so. It was built differently than this mattress. The top layer(s) were much softer and you really sunk in before you hit the "support" layer of foam. I found myself in a snuggled dip, making rolling over at night difficult and usually found that I was woken up by the struggle. The mattress was hot too. Let me tell you I was a sweat factory every night. It was nice in the winter time, however. But all in all I was comfortable and had little to no back or neck pain. This was the least I could expect, considering the fact that I spend a good sum of money on a premium mattress. One of the few things I will mention (probably just my own body issues) is that if I didn't pee before bed, you can bet your bottom dollar that I would wake up in the morning with a sore back and having to run to the bathroom. I just got used to going beforehand and never had any issues. Also something people don't touch on AT ALL is the subject of intimacy. We all pretty much participate in this activity on this particular household item exclusively, and no one really talks about the differences between springs vs. foam. On the Tempur mattress the fact that you sunk in quite a bit with no give made bedroom activities a constant game changer. If anyone had issues with joints, or needing to be at a certain level or position during this activity would have to pretty much find another surface to have these activities on.And with that background being covered I can move on. My new wife and I moved out to Maine from the Pacific Northwest, selling all our belongings and started fresh. We hit town and bought some furniture, and a mattress at the same time from the same dealer. It was a discount mattress and believe me after 2 months we knew we got what we paid for. Sagging center and broken springs. We spoke of our options and discussed foam. I had experience with it, however refused to pay 2,000$ for a mattress. We shopped around locally, even hitting the sleep number store in our local mall. Their memory foam was a bit firmer than what I had before, but the tilt/massage and air adjustability was very enticing, then I got the 5600$ price and walked out. We are both thrifty and big Amazon shoppers so we turned here. We shopped Sams Club and Costco also and decided on this mattress. Ordered it on Friday Oct 19th and it was at our door before noon the next day. Amazon will always have the best delivery and service. We unpacked the bed at noon and slept on it that night. The smell was already almost gone by our 9 o'clock bedtime. We settled right in on the firmest bed either of us has ever slept on. It was a terribly uncomfortable frist night. Our pillows were not supportive enough either. We woke up Sunday, assessed the situation and went right out to Sams Club and dropped 80$ on a soft 1.5" foam topper, installed it and have the mattress of our dreams. A nice shallow cushy layer that supports with the firmness we desire. We sleep cool, we are isolated from eachothers movements and let me tell you, the firmness and the fact that you don't "sink" into the mattress have opened our eyes to a whole new world in the romance department. Having a bed that does not move all over on bouncy springs really amplifies the energy you put into the pleasure.I will leave it at that. I will also be very critical of this purchase and will update this review as often as something comes to light worth mentioning. But for now, we got an amazing mattress. It may not be perfect out of the box, but with products available anywhere you can tailor this to your own sleep style with little investment. This is a great mattress with an AMAZING price. I love it more than the Tempur brand that was almost 5 times more expensive.Enjoy!!Update (3-4-13) We have been sleeping on this mattress for a tick over 4 months now. Every night my wife and I look forward to our sleep! We have "rotated" the mattress twice now (end to end, not flipping it over, as you can only sleep on the top surface) for no other reason than to just prevent us from possibly sinking the mattress (absolutely no sign of that). One evening I was washing the cover for our 2" mattress topper and we lost power in the middle of it. We decided to sleep on just the mattress and without the topper. Same as the first night we woke up stiff and achey. This mattress alone is still just too firm without the 2" soft layer that the extra topper provides. I would still recommend this mattress to anyone, since you can customize the sleep with a small investment in a topper.Update (3-8-14) It's been well over a year now, and this bed has become our favorite place in the house. About 5 months ago we decided to remove the foam topper and sleep directly on the bed, because I was, for some reason, tossing and turning which shifted the topper, causing me to have part of my body on the topper and then my shoulders would fall and contact the mattress. I can only think that after almost a year of sleeping on the mattress, it "softened" up enough to where we felt the bed was the same firmness without the topper. Picked up some 600 thread count luxury sheets and we could never imagine not sleeping on this bed. Still stand by my rating and recommend it.

Good for the price
Having had foam mattress before I hoped it be firmer. However, this is not the case due to the memory foam. That said, it a preference not a reason to rate it lower, it is well made.
