I myself purchased this to make Lego Tech 42006 excavatar a powered and remote controlled. There are numerous sets that can be purchased that use the power functions. Check out legoCom for other sets. **Q: Does this work on non-technic Lego items?** A: You can use regular bricks to attach to, or build around, the motor. You will however need Lego technic pieces to take full advantage of it (eg. gears, cogs, shafts, etc.) **Q: Is there a companion set of axles, wheels, and perforated beams? This looks a little short of doing anything useful with non-Technic Lego sets.** A: There are sets like the LEGO 42006 Excavator and LEGO 9396 Helicopter that use this set as a motorized upgrade.
