Yes,it is squared sides and bottom.

Q: mine has little black dots on it. Is it the style of the material or they are some sort of insects (bedbugs)?

Looking closely at mine I guess I can see some things one might describe as black spots but truly I think it is just imperfections in the material (not bedbugs). You might contact seller and get their gist on it. I have used mine a lot and like it. Looks like seller has posted an answer and says they are cottonseed hulls. Makes sense to me.
