Great timer, a few quibbles.
I just bought these for grandma. I think they're great. And they do exactly what they say they will. They even have battery back-up, in case of power failure, so they'll kick on again a day after the power goes on.You can also program them when not plugged in, because they run on the internal rechargeable battery. Very nice.It has 10 timers, and a randomize function i f you want some start times to be randomized up or down a half hour each day. Great feature.I tested it out - it works flawlessly, and the display is well laid out.i love this timer. And for the price? Awesome. Seriously a fan.If I could deduct a 1/2 star, it would be for these things:1. It's a little annoying that if you put it in ON or OFF mode, and then switch to AUTO (i.e. programmed), it gets out of whack until the next timer begins. Not a huge deal..2. When setting a timer, the button that chooses the day you want the timer assigned to is labeled 'Week'. Counterintuitive. I was tired once and was looking for the 'Day' button. yeah, dumb mistake, I figured it out quick. Still, they got it wrong.3. When you program the STOP time for a timer, you have to RE-enter the day you want it assigned to.That's counter intuitive.i.e., you start by choosing a day for a timer. Then assign the hour and minute of the start time.Next, you program stop time. NO YOU DON'T ! You actually have to pick the day AGAIN, for the stop time, and then enter hour and minute that you want the light turned off. What if you neglect to assign a day to the stop time?Answer: It will turn off/on differently than you expect. And you may not be home to notice that !This time is great, but your best bet is to enter all data, then cycle through the timers to make sure you got it how you want it.A few quibbles, easy to handle once you know about them.4 1/2 stars

Very good product; not that hard to program
I purchased these for the grow lights in our greenhouse. I read the instructions first as some comments indicated they are difficult to program. I took note of the features I wanted to use. After that I went back it as needed and it was not difficult to program. The 7-day period is after you step through the individual days. I stumbled on that but it is clear in their example. I just did not read the example before I jump in.Since some features require 2 buttons it is important to keep the manual. I was impressed that Enover sent me the updated manual as an Acrobat file before I even had the chance to install the timers I like the Acrobat file as I keep my manuals on a computer.I like the large screen and the 24 hour format. The timers are plugged in up on a side wall so the screen is easy to read without climbing past the plants. And from that distance I don't have to strain to see a small PM.The backup battery seems very strong. The timer clocks were running when the pair arrived. I was able to program the timers at my desk and merely plug them in. This is a lot better than doing the programming after the timer is plugged into an outlet.I have had other light timers on the front porch lights. These are permanently installed light switches. Some brands do not keep time very well, drifting as much as 30 minutes from the spring to fall DST change. With the backup battery I expect these to do much better over the winter.

Warning: battery is not replaceable.
While functional, its interface is cumbersome because the buttons are all the same shape and color. The worst thing, though, is that the "rechargeable" battery is not replaceable. So, once it's quit recharging, the unit is not reprogrammable. So, you have to replace the whole thing.

I cannot recommend these terrible products
I cannot recommend these terrible products. I think the design and ease of use is well thought out and superior to other products I have used. BUT, and this is a BIG but, they are not reliable at all. One of the ones I received seems to work as it should. The other seems to have a mind of its own and operates totally randomly. I've reset it a number of times and it refuses to perform as advertised. After some problems, I reset the unit and programmed it to turn on at 8:45pm and off at 9:15pm (random setting on OFF) and left it in my TV room so I could monitor it. First night, everything worked fine. Second evening on at 8:45pm - by midnight it was still on. Repeating the test did not seem to help - it's simply unreliable. So if you want to roll the dice and hope you get one that works in the package of two, by all means order this product. But before you rely on it to provide security while you are away, test it for a few nights to make sure it works as it should.

Works perfectly with my coffee maker!
My simple coffee maker lacks a programming feature. After setting program 1 to 5:30am ON to 5:35am OFF, I prepare the coffee machine with water and ground coffee and flip the power switch to ON. The first few days I kept making small mistakes but I finally made a checklist for myself to follow. For my coffee, I need to make sure the timer mode is set to “AUTO” (not “OFF” and not “RANDOM”). Also, the week needs to be set to exactly what is intended for both ON and OFF settings. In my case, both settings to weekdays, “M T W TH F”.So it works well but it is easy to make mistakes in the programming. The timer will do *exactly* what you program it to do, even if what you tell it to do does not make any sense. The manufacturer does not recommend connecting to an appliance - I believe because it is easy for a user to make mistakes in programming. Clearly, you wouldn’t want a potentially dangerous appliance such as a coffee machine to stay on for many hours on end unintentionally and unattended. While I finally got the programming right, I still disconnect my coffee maker when it’s done. It’s only when I prepare the machine with water and coffee before bed is when I plug it into the timer.I am happy with the product! It does exactly what it is supposed to.
