I haven't played the original games but I've seen my friend play through the new one, and I like the trilogy's style better. It's the only game in the trilogy to have lava, which should be a traditional part of every video game (although I guess eitr makes a suitable replacement in Underworld). Also this game is obviously a prequel to Legend, and from what I heard, a remake of the original game done in a way to fit in with the reboot.
