I went over the grams slightly but my items still came out very black. The dye does get stuck to the inside rim of the washing machine (like a thin inky layer) so beware. I spent an hour scrubbing it all off, did an empty cycle, then a couple of dark cycles then finally braved a 'lights' cycle (added in a colour catcher in case) and I did see one or two black inky splotches on some old towels. This happened again on another cycle and after that no more black in the machine.
